I am so angry that some people on here are being so critical of something that I choose to do to make some money for the holidays. What I am doing is no different than having a yard sale. So GIVE ME A FU***NG BREAK!!!
Renda, I am selling things on Craigslist and it seems that someone...SUE B ...........has a problem with it and felt the need to berate me for it....she thinks that I am asking for trouble. I live in Utah, ............Orem, Utah.....aka Happy Valley.....Mormonville. I am not saying that things do not happen here, but its not like your average city. Thanks for listening to my rant....
Lori, I am sorry that you're having difficulty with someone. As long as you are taking the appropriate measures to be safe, I wouldn't worry about it. From what I've seen of craigslist, it is a good way to get rid of items you don't want and obtain items you're looking for. Hope you are very successful using that site to buy and/or sell.
I couldn't agree with you more! I know that you are being careful and I also know that if you didn't feel comfortable with someone coming to pick something up, you'd have someone there with you. I know you are a smart woman and would take all the precautions necessary. Sell away and be happy!
Lori, we do what we have to do because we are parents and we do what needs to be done to take care of our kids and give then what they want and need. I understand and I'm thinking of doing it as well. If people can't be supportive or nice they need to keep QUIET!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!

Well, you always have to be careful, but that is what Craigslist is for, to sell things on. You can't just hide in a hole all your life, living affraid of everything that "could" happen, or you will never experience life...
Wow, Sue B. thinks selling stuff on Craigslist is "begging to be victimized", and that people who do things like that "bring crime upon themselves due to sheer stupidity"?

But if he does, I'll be using it. I buy and sell stuff on eBay. I buy and sell stuff through local classified ads. And I give and get stuff through a local FreeCycle group.
I often talk to strangers. I enter and leave my house when people can see me. We're even in the phone book and on the electoral roll.
And if Sue B. thinks I'm stupid for choosing to do all those things, then I can assure you that the feeling is mutual.
Lori, I read your article about selling on Craigslist. Look, you had no problems, you took precautions, and you ended up buying the toy that you couldn't otherwise afford. Do whatever you need to do and don't let what other people think get to you. It's just their opinion and nothing more.
Lori, How dare you be guilty of the crime of needing money!!!! ;-) If that were a crime than the jails would be very very very overcrowded! I haven't read what Sue said so I won't comment on that directly. Maybe she meant very well by it and just wanted you to be safe! I think though or at least I greatly hope that you are smart enough and mature enough to have taken precautions against the craziness that is unfortunately a a part of the internet and the world in general!

Isn't selling stuff in person more dangerous? It's hard to victimize someone physically when they aren't in front of you. If someone from Craig's List gets your address and drives to you to do some harm, he's not making the best use of his time. Odds are he'll just commit that violent crime on someone closer. Lots of people sell things on Craig's list. I understand trying to get money for the holidays! Sometimes you just have to ignore what people think and do what you think is best for you!
I think you are fine! I have tried to sell stuff on there & I am not quite sure what I am doing yet LOL! All I know is when we had a yard sale at our apartment I had 2 knocks on my door that night & one of the knocks wasn't a nice one & I didn't get it cause I had my 1 yo in the bathtub at the time upstairs & I wasn't about to leave him...I called my hubby to see if it was him (he was at work) and he said no...so I am REALLY glad I didn't get it. It can be scary...I don't know how people can do yard sales at their houses haha. Sue B needs to relax though ;o) Just make sure someone tough is with you at all times & have a phone close by ;o).
