Yay! Food Questions!
What is your favorite kind of cookbook? I like the really big ones with LOTS of recipes and pictures. Not that I follow any of them very well, but they are good reference tools.
What are some of the food rituals that have shaped your life? Cooking with my family is a very important ritual in my life. Barbecues, ethnic cuisine, pasta, vegetarian, desserts, it’s ALL good!
What is the most important element when cooking? Having fun!
What about tasting when cooking? I taste test constantly.
How has your cooking/ food philosophy changed in the past 10 years? I buy and eat more expensive items, where I used to think cheaper was better. For example, we never eat hamburger anymore. I also rarely use pre-made lemon and lime juice; fresh is SO much better!
What convenience products, if any, do you use at home? Frozen corn and peas and canned beans.
What is the best thing about food in this country today? The growth in popularity of organic products and Farmer's Markets. Otherwise, there isn’t much good about food made in this country.
Do you use a microwave oven? Rarely.
Was your mother a good cook? My mom is the BEST cook. I can never duplicate her awesome desserts!
What is always In your fridge? Milk, cheese and various cooking wines and vinegars.
Secret food passion? I have no secrets when it comes to food. It’s all out there!
Food dislikes? Lima beans, canned peas, green bean casserole (actually, most casseroles)
Most popular dish you make? There are a few that get requested a lot: maple-pumpkin cheesecake, my soups, chilequiles, gourmet salads, sandwiches, yogurt sauce, I’ll stop there…
Favorite cookbooks? The Joy of Cooking or Bon Appetit
Favorite kitchen gadget? My slow cooker. Not much that doesn’t taste good after slow cooking it.

How about the other varieties of flour, such as spelt, rye, etc. I would suggest taking a trip to your nearest Whole or Health Food store and shopping around.
Soy milk is also pretty tasty too.
Do you like beans? They are great, and full of fiber too. For example, black beans over brown rice would be good. Just flavor it with jerk seasoning and top with tomatoes and cilantro.
Do you like yogurt?
Tell me what you like, and I will help as much as I can :)
