Ohio Bird ID help and photo submissions to ODNR

While taking photos of birds I have found a nice resource for bird identification.

I use this quite often when a new bird arrives at my feeders. It may also help those from other states ID some of the birds they have too.

And for those who are from Ohio you can submit your photos to ODNR you have to post the camera, date photo was taken, county and the species if you know it. I have two of my photos on the site. And plan on putting up more. It would be nice to get one published in one of the state magazines.

Please tell me you entered this just about EVERYWHERE! This is the most amazing bird shot I have ever seen! Would make a cool tat also and a desktop . . . beautifullllllllll Angela - you should be so proud of yourself!

Isn't the Nuthatch, one of the few birds that can walk down a tree head first?

Terry, I honesty dont know, I guess that is something i am going to have to watch out for. As far as I can remember I dont think I have ever seen woodpecker do it so you may be right, I think the woodpecker have all went down the tree back end toward the ground. Thanks for your input that is very interesting. I watch the birds more closely and report back my observations

Susan thank you so very much for the compliment, It means a lot. Ive never gotten any where with contest :( If you dont have a slr digital most of them dont even look at a photo twice because a regular digital just dont get the photos as crisp. Or I just can figure out how to do it. But i get a lot of joy just posting here at gather for all my gather pals.

This is a White Breasted Nuthatch. I used to live in Akron and have moved to Atlanta within the past year. I miss my Nuthatches. Here in Atlanta we also have the Red Breasted version. They make such a cute cluckie noise sometimes.
