A few years back there was a fad on some of the college campuses when the students would declare a day "Talk like a pirate day. " On the appointed day they would swagger about to classes and the student union cursing one another as scurvy dogs with an "aye" and an "arr" thrown in for good measure.
We gatherites can't swagger about talking like Johnny Depp's Captain Sparrow, but why should we be deprived of the fun?
As writers, couldn't any of us select the beginning lines to a classic and "pirate" it up a bit?
Go on matey, give it a try. I'll go first ya scurvy sea dogs!
The cat-o-nine tale of two cities;
"Arr, it was the best of times; aye, it was the worst of times, Arr!"
So, what tack will ye set yer sail to matey? Give us a line, and make it snappy or you'll feel the cat on yer back! Arr!

An, beggin' th' Cap'ns pardon, but whenst I come over here, I noticed a lot of stowaway articles that don't be about pirates at all!
So I sez why don't we run out the plank an walk 'em all overboard, an takes no prisoner's, Aye!!!
BTW, sorry some of your early articles didn't get notice. This is my fault as I started the pirate group for ITLAPD and didn't do much with it after that.
Call me Ishmael, ya scurvy dog!

When I wrote the following pages, Yarrr, or rather the bulk of them, I lived alone in a house which I had built myself, on the shore of Walden Pond, in Concord, Massachusetts, and earned my living by the labour of my hands only. Aye... it was all hands on deck an' work fer me or ye get the hook ya swabs!
