I have read many articles about the recent upgrade and some of them have been tasteful while others have been in short, plain ignorant. Either way, I think every Gather member has the right to their say and opinion. That after all is what Gather is about....
Many people have talked about "moving on" and leaving Gather yet they remain and I think that is wonderful. Others may have left and yet others will stay and make the best of things. Again, wonderful.
However when I think about "moving on", I think about the fact that in the past week I have read article after article about the upgrade. We know that the officials that be know what our complaints are and we know that they will or won't do as they please. That being said, when is it time to REALLY MOVE ON and get back to what Gather is really about?? At what point do we simply make a decision to stay or go and then write some of the quality content tha I know so many are capable of writing?
For me, moving on starts tonight....for you??

Let's get back to Gathering!
I think that any time there is change, people will resist. Our culture breeds an atmosphere where change is viewed in a negative fashion; we strive for the status quo in just about everything. Think about it. Individuality, change, independent thought are all looked down upon by today's society. So we're conditioned to resist anything that involves change, even if that change can be for the better....
It is instead that I wonder if Gather is taking up too much of my time, and if there aren't better things to do with it... *sigh*
I for one love Gather, don't want to leave and at this point have no intention of doing so. I also think that they could make a few minor changes that would make me feel safer with the information that post. So-I wear black in support of the many who want an open discussion where questions are truly addressed, and compromise is a posibility.
For the past week I just click to my friends list/articles. I've stopped looking for new stuff by new authors completely. Sad, but true. New connections will be few and far between.
I'm just trying my best to figure out a system that doesn't leave me missing 90% of the content posted (which is what is happening now) I just don't know what said system is. :(
I am spending my time trying to figure out the new way, there is no point in griping!
