I am an employee of a retail store. And I would like to comment on cutomers.
The vast majority of customers are fun. They are easy to help, relaxed and pleasant.
But at the end of the week, the customers I remember more and more are the obnoxious ones, who think you are a slave and they are a slave owner.
Some people walk in the front door and they are gunning for bear, just walking around with a hard on and think its cute to pick on employess. Since as employess to do anything other than to take their shit, would get us fired.
I recently had a customer call back to my place of employment and say they will never shop their again. The manager stepped out of his office and tried to chew me out over it. I wanted to know what was said, in the explaining of what was said, the manager went from mad at me, to being irritated that the story he was told made no sense. The customer wanted to order some items, we do that, with a computer we can pull up parts and the customer tells us what part they need. They ordered a part, called in to complain the wrong part was ordered. The only way to order a part is for the customer to tell us what part on the screen they need on the screen. I was lied on, and in the retelling the manager was still a prick, but the customer was exposed as a liar!
If you have a legit complaint, go ahead and complain, but just dont break my balls with a lie. I do follow the golden rule, I treat others the way I want to be treated, no matter how difficult that may be with some customers.
PART OF ME IS AFRAID OF EVEN POSTING THIS, SINCE FREEDOM OF SPEECH DOES NOT INCLUDE FREEDOM OF BITCHING ABOUT ONES WORK.
AND NOT THAT IT MATTERS, BUT IM 36 AND KNOW HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE.

I hate to see abusive customers because I know that abuse will come back on me in one way or another. Therefore, I make it a point to be cheerful and sympathetic to clerks and am usually rewarded by helpful, considerate service.
Try and take a deep breath and smile and be happy that you are getting a pay check in these awful economic times. That and a good cup of coffee always saw me through a s%^$y day.
Take care.
