I put up an article about the Bush family legacy this morning, only to find the link to it has gone down, and several other links to the same audio tape from BBC Radio have similarly disappeared from the web, at the same time. As a matter of fact the whole website the first link connected to is down, entirely. When the right information, on the wrong subject, gets the wrong attention on the web, it often goes missing, I've noticed. Anyway, though, I have found the original link to BBC Radio, and a series of links that explore the covered information and will list them at the bottom of this article for your perusal.
What they cover is the remarkable fact that George W. Bush isn't the first fascist in the family, he shares that distinction with his honorable Grandfather, Prescott Bush. In point of fact Prescott was a conspirator in a plot to overthrow the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Government, along with many of the other elite of his time. Their plan was to install a fascist Hitler style government with the figurehead of Smedley Butler, a famous 2 time medal of honor winner and general of the Marine Corps at the helm. What they hadn't counted on was his disgust with their kind, and his playing of them till he could split the whole affair wide open in a congressional investigation. Why haven't you heard of this bit of WII history? Well, because the people with the money all denied their involvement, of course, and rallied all the political muscle they could purchase to bury it, and of course, our country needed the industrial might of many of the plotters to go uninterrupted during the war years, as well, so the investigation died with a whimper, but it did issue a report to congress that has been unearthed to testify to their conclusion the plot was real. In any case, this story has been one of the most under reported stories of WWII.

Wanted to also say thank you for commenting and welcoming my sister to gather.
Hope you and the budster are doing good, catch up with you soon.!
I just know they're now SO Texas and Florida ... and that sounds so sinister to me.
But maybe that's because I'm in Minnesota.
Is Minnesota sinister sounding to Texans and Floridians, I wonder?
Hmmm
No... but fascism runs away FROM the Bush family.
In 1918, just after the US entered World War I, Bush became chief of the Ordnance, Small Arms and Ammunition Section of the War Industries Board. In this capacity, he sold weapons made by manufacturers such as his own Remington Arms Company to 75% of the WWI combatants on both sides. Congressional committee hearings in 1934 by U.S. Senator Gerald Nye attacked Bush and other weapons salesmen as war profiteers and "Merchants of Death." Salesmen from these companies had helped to manipulate the nations into World War I and then made astronomical profits from the sales of the weapons, at the taxpayer's expense of course. In 1914, the German army under the Kaiser, armed mainly by Samuel Bush, was the largest and best armed in the world. After WWI, the German army was forced to disarm, but Bush was allowed to keep his many millions, and his arms business thrived. In 1944, Bush was awarded a huge government contract to make armor casings for WWII. Most of the records and correspondence of Samuel Bush's arms deals have been burned "to save space" in the National Archives. This pattern of the systematic deletion of large portions of the public records is typical of all the Bushes.
George Herbert Walker (George W. Bush's other great grandfather): Wall Street banker and director or president of G.H. Walker and Co., J.P. Morgan and Co., Guaranty Trust Co., W.A. Harriman and Co., and Union Banking Corporation.
Walker made his fortune building up the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, financing their oil, coal, steel, and manganese industries, among others. As President of Union Banking Corp. (UBC), he laundered money for Hitler and supplied raw materials essential for Germany's waging World War II. His most prominent partners in financing Hitler's war machine were Averell Harriman and Prescott Bush. Together, they ran Harriman-Walker, the Hamburg-Amerika Line (a cover for I.G. Farben's Nazi espionage unit in the U.S.), the American Ship and Commerce Co. (which smuggled German agents, propaganda, and money into America to bribe American politicians to support the Nazi cause), the Harriman Fifteen Corporation, and the Silesian Holding Company. In addition, their Consolidated Silesian Steel Corporation owned 1/3 of a complex of steel-making, coal-mining, and zinc-mining activities in Germany. (Friederich Flick owned two-thirds and was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by the Nuremburg Tribunal, but the American partners were never tried). The Nazi army was equipped by Flick, Harriman, Walker, and Bush with materials stolen from Poland. Meanwhile, Soviet army vehicles were fueled by oil pumped from Baku wells revived by the Harriman/Walker/Bush enterprise.
When the U.S. government seized the Silesian-American Corp. in 1942 under the "Trading with the Enemy Act," George Herbert Walker was still the senior director of the company
"Mussolini defined fascism as being a right-wing collectivistic ideology in opposition to socialism, liberalism, democracy and individualism. He wrote in The Political and Social Doctrine of Fascism:
Anti-individualistic, the fascist conception of life stresses the importance of the State and accepts the individual only insofar as his interests coincide with those of the State, which stands for the conscience and the universal will of man as a historic entity"
Put that text in one hand and compare it to one of my favorite Bushisms, "You're either with us or against us."
In fact, fascism sounds a lot like the conservative philosophy of being for freedom as long as you do what you act like everyone else. Gay marriage is a good example. Bush goes on about freedom, freedom, freedom, but wants to add an amendment to the constitution outlawing gay marriage.
I remember listening to (then senator) Rick Santorum denouncing what he called "radical individualism", basically saying talking about the importance of people in society to conform and to not stray to far from the mainstream.
Yep, BUSH IS A FASCIST! And so are most right wingers, then, too, according to Mussolini!
Not scene ... "sense"
ha ha
You are confusing what he says with what he does. With Bush, there is a difference of a mile. Maybe thousands, maybe million trillions.
I am relieved to discover someone else can let a distaste for Bills of Attainder extend beyond the strictly legal realm. Working the corruption of blood was so repugnant to our nation founding fathers that they saw fit to forbid the passage of such laws and that is a revulsion that should also prevent us from working the corruption of blood in forming our opinions of others.
I have noted that in recent years there has been an increase in the tendency to think it is okay to insult a person if you dislike one or more of the person's parents. Likewise there seem to a tendency to fault the parents or other ancestor if a person does something that is wrong even if the person committing the wrong is an adult.
While it quite legitimate to make allowances for youthful mistakes if one or more of a person's parents has set a bad example or has engaged in other behavior that did psychological damage by the time a person becomes an adult they the ones who should be held responsible for their actions.
I find it particularly ironic and regusterating (sickening and revolting) that people who claim to be anti-fascist are embracing one of the more revolting characteristics of fascism and Nazism by trying to validate a theory that is based on the either the corruption of blood or guilt by association. It is wrong regardless of who does it.
You said it here Ron very hard but not impossible. I grew up in the south and I can tell you that I'm not the stereo typical southerner but I do get many of the jokes thrown at me and the looks for being from the south. Are you inbread ect. I live in MN and I can tell you I've seen more gun racks in the back of trucks here than I ever did growing up but guess what gun racks in a truck is labeled as one of the hallmarks of a red neck.
I'm damn proud to be from the south even with what some would call a bad history. I hear how flying a confederate flag is seen as bad because it is seen as a symbol of slavery . Does that mean that all who fly this flag are racist and are promoting slavery. I don't think so.
All these stories try to do is paint someone with the brush from the past. And in this case I think it's just drug up to paint Bush and say see I told you so look where he came from.
My Dad told me once that as humans we're incapable of forgetting, but forgiveness is never bringing it up.
So my question to you Ron is there a statute of limitations on what your ancestors do that absolves you of their sins. Or are you held accountable forever.
Oh yea my Great-Grand Father was a bigot does that make me one also. By this story it seems that I must be one.
Sometimes I think that what we are, here, is corporatist. Everything seems set up for the corporate world to do its thing. If you're not working through a corporation then you just aren't in the system.
Facts are now "foolish and stupid ideas." Got it.
You need to do a little research, it is history, not a joke, at least as far as i can find. I saw one page trying to debunk it, but they made the ridiculous claim that the man on the white horse talked about was Roosevelt. That's a pretty far stretch considering they had already laid out his role in the whole plan. There were a whole troop of industrialists and bankers kindly disposed to Hitler and Mussolini before war actually broke out.
My only regret is that this didn't come out before two thousand and save us a whole lot of lives, debt, and the results of the class warfare this man has foisted upon our country. He has fouled the office of the president, put himself and his thugs up above the law, and continues to, turned our government from top to bottom into a political machine for the furthering of the republican cause, Operated illegal spying, placed two generations of Americans into debt that will prevent us from realizing the promise of Social Security, and generally funneled huge amounts from our treasury into corporate coffers with no regard for the people of this country. You weep for the prick, I will not.
That said, I believe that all things happen for a reason, and this is a huge wake up call for the people, as to needed changes in government, business, and religion.
Oh, so now facts are "bush bashing," and therefore, must be avoided. Got it.
Sorry, but this vile family has been in the white house for 18-1/2 of the past 26 years. It's critically important for the citizens of this nation to know their background, in order that we can avoid suffering under their twisted, anti-American governance ever again.
The importance of enlightening the masses about the Bush crime family history is so that we can avoid having to suffer under another Bush presidency, not to "bash" the poor little bugger. I'm really sorry that you find it so terribly inconvenient and uncomfortable to see what skeletons lurk in the closet of this crime family, but, for the good of the nation's future, try to suck it up and take it like a man.
"i'm certain superboy did one very similar, didnt you?"
Yes, I did. Feel free to join in and show everybody over there how you think we're all picking on poor widdo Georgie.

1.) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic motto, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2.) Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3.) Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause: The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4.) Supremacy of the Military: Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5.) Rampant Sexism: The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
6.) Controlled Mass Media: Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7.) Obsession with National Security: Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8.) Religion and Government are Intertwined: Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
9.) Corporate Power is Protected: The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10.) Labor Power is Suppressed: Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
11.) Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts: Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
12.) Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13.) Rampant Crony ism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
14. Fraudulent Elections: Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
If you're not OUTRAGED you're not paying attention.
Terry , Paula, sorry I didn't catch you guys before, but thanks, I appreciate you guys saying hi once in a while.
It is very good and important, I think, to see the sorts of things which the current Administration trumpets and imposes, in the light of historic tendencies and "models". Surely 'fascism' is an excellent shorthand term for what we have seen thus far.
I feel there is some need to divorce oneself from the notion that we are actually dealing with the problems inherent in adherents of any particular socio-political ideology though. I believe we are dealing with authoritarianism, and the fascist model is simply one that works quite well at allowing the rise to power, and maintenance of power, by a very few "bosses". If any particular aspect of that model was, or became, counter-productive to the authority of those few, it would be jettisoned, along with any persons whose involvement in it were helpful to that end.
In the final analysis, fascism too is but a conglomeration of "tools" with which megalomaniacal people exert their will on the many. The "tools" appear in various combinations throughout history, and it is their utility to the despot at the top which imbues them with importance, not their inherent appeal to those despots. Surely they all dream of being elected by an adoring public at some point, for instance, and if they felt that were reasonably assured, they would not bother to rig elections. If a woman somehow got into such a dominant position, anti-feminine bias would simply fade into the background, or even be replaced by anti-masculine bias, if that served the purposes of the "queen".
It's all about 'authority', the notion that people ought to obey and conform to what those more powerful than themselves command. All the particulars we see are just variations on that "Ruler, and ruled" theme. The ruler cares not how they get to dominate others, just that they do. It's really just "MEism" gone mega-size. It's the prevalence of MEism that allows it to succeed.
There are endless variations of authoritarian models waiting in the wings to replace fascism, should it be defeated (again). Today we face one that uses a fascism style model, but defeating it will not itself assure safety from being dominated by some other one. Authoritarianism in all it's guises must be brought to light, and this is a fine place to start.
