I live in missouri and we were hit with a big snow. At 1:35 am my loving husband woke me up to tell me the snow was covering the back porch. The back porch is about two feet from the ground. I told him i would see it in about two hours when i get up to go to work. He couldnt stop talking about it. So we layed there watching TV. I knew i wasnt going to get to go back to sleep.
At 2:30 I got up and started to take photos. Then i came in to get ready for work. As I was showering, my husband was cleaning the sidewalk and the driveway so he could drive me to work. He did a good job. As you can see in the photos. The snow by the sidewalk was about two feet tall.
I get in the truck to go to work and we backed out. MY husband drives a two wheel drive truck and he tryed to back up in a foot and a half of snow. How far do you think we got? Yes we didnt get very far. As were setting there my boss calls and tells me she cant get out of her driveway and that her husband is in the shower and as soon as he gets dress. He going to bring me to work. I told her i was on my way there. Well it didnt take me very long to call her back to tell her I was going to be late to.
I kept telling my husband, lets go get one of the 4x4 trucks and drive it. We have two 4x4 trucks, ones a 1965 and the other one is 1982. The 1965 is a fixer upper and the other one is our sons. Neither one is tagged. So there not street legal. I told him its 4:00 in the morning. whos going to pull us over. He said fine!!!!! As his truck sets in the middle of the road stuck. He said go start up the 4x4 truck.
Well to start off with i couldnt find the key. Then I went to start the truck and it wouldnt start. So i went to my husband. About that time he was mad. There was about three feet of snow on top of the hood. He clean that off and then told me to open the hood. It was dark and i kept pulling the brake. He said Its right under the dash. I finally found it. It open right up. We had a time trying to get it started. It finally started.
Then We couldnt get it locked to put it in to four wheel drive. I have to run to the garage which is on the other side of the house to get pliers. Your talking about two to three feet of snow to get there. WE finally took the 4x4 truck and got the other truck unstuck. I was on my way to work. Oh yea we had no heater in this truck. So now we have are heads sticking out the windows just to be able to see. There was only one lane on the road, glad there wasnt anyone coming down the road. There was so many cars in the ditches. WE never ended in the ditch. yea!!!!. lol.
We get to work, before my boss. We had to shovel the front door just to get in. It was fun and it was something to talk about. There hasnt been snow like this since 1979. Or this is what everyone kept telling me today. Everyone talked about how many cars were in the ditches. Its been a long day and I'm really tired. So this is what my morning was like.

Our winters in WV haven't been nearly so bad as they used to be, back when I was little. We did have a pretty good snow in 1986. My son slid his truck over our mailbox trying to get out of the driveway; my little Mustang was totally buried, and we all stayed home for a long weekend!
Since 1979? Was this deeper than the Blizzard of 96 or did you not have the Blizzasrd of 96 in your area? Here (Philadelphia, PA)it was the snowiest in recorded wether history (more than 100 years). Places stayed shut down for up to 4 days.
