OK, folks... this isn't a "Socialized Medicine" post, so if you came in here to argue with me, there's nuthin' to argue about. I've been sick since last Friday, and it just flat SUX! That's all this post is about.
Came home a little early last Friday with a scratchy throat, a fever and a headache. Saturday, I was really beginning to feel it, so sat on Gather all day. Sunday, I was checking my throat to see how badly I'd been sliced up.
Come Monday, I was actually beginning to feel REALLY SICK. Throat screaming, head pounding, eyes watering, coughing, sneezing, I loaded up on Pseudoephedrine and Mucinex and... headed 70 miles south to work. Imagine my surprise when NO ONE was happy to see me. But I perservered, and finished the day.
Tuesday, I arose with the alarm, headed for the bathroom... and walked into a closet wall! I could hardly breathe. My chest was on fire, my sinuses were loaded, and my inner ear had given up for the day. I tried to go back to bed, but sleep was over. So, I staggered downstairs, called my office phone and croaked a message to the effect that I was dying, and would work from home until the end came, fired up the laptop and logged into my work computer. For the rest of the day, I actually did work (and spent some time on Gather, I must confess).
Wednesday, I felt "better." Well, I felt better as opposed to dying, so I went back to work. I've been coughing my way around the office for the past three days.
My probelm seems to be that, since I quit smoking two years ago, I've developed the ability to send every cold into my right lung and turn it into pneumonia. 'T'ain't fair, I'm tellin ya... 't'ain't fair!

MyHotComments Don't spread it for Pete's sake! But seriously, take care and feel better soon.
Not fair, especially since you've conquered the smoking addiction. The best you can do it stay home, rest, cough up that icky stuff and don't spread the germs.
If you have rib pain, use a cold (freezer) pack. Sounds awful, but it's the only thing that works to relieve the pain. I've had pneumonia twice and don't want it again!
Who will you service on this day, The Lord with a kind word of hope, or the flesh with a discourage word? The Choice is your.
Hope you feel better!!
Now if my partner Carol could just shake free from her current respiratory crud, I might be able to be a little less terse and a little more coherent this morning...

I hope you get better soon!
Now don't abuse your body and go to bed until you feel better. Plenty of liquids an lots of rest.
I don't get sick much any more, but I've found that when a cold heads for the nose or the chest, eating a lot of garlic and using a gross gooey gunk called Zycam (a zinc supplement) seem to get rid of it. Zycam now also comes in a disgusting pasty lozenge as well, but I prefer the gooey nose gunk because you can't taste it since it goes in your nose. It's gross, but it's worked faster for me than antibiotics worked for everyone around me the very few times I've been sick in the last several years.
Hope you get better very soon!
Nevertheless, there IS a picnic in Hell for special little sissies. Bring a fork and a map to your ass.
FEEL BETTER SOON!
Thanks for posting to All Top Ten Groups!
You going to work more on your Sci fi series, I liked it.
