I always think my husband should be proud to be seen in his uniform, but instead, he's always ashamed of wearing his uniform.
Today I finally found out the reason. He said he's always being teased or mocked by people when he's in uniform. A few examples include: Some guys yelled at him, "Get out of Puerto Rico!" A guy in his community college class was making fun of him. Protesters of "military in South America" were throwing red paint towards military personnel.
I think those people who made fun of military personnel were sick in mind. My husband wasn't showing off or having personal grudge against people from other countries. He's just doing what he thinks is right to protect his country.

When I returned from Vietnam, there wasw no mention in my resume of being there. Today, we need to br proud of of out military, 50 years ago, we wen't
Our Viet Nam veterans, many of whom were drafted and still served with honor, were spat upon, mocked and even beaten when they returned. They had no parades or honors and even found it difficult to get a job.
I do not agree with war, but I only have deep respect for the soldiers that are doing a very thankless job for the benefit of us all.

I am so surprised. I thought my husband was particularly unlucky to be treated that way, but there are many of you having the same experience.
What is wrong!
Stuff like this really makes me sick.
I'm a huge fan of the Marines and I hear stuff like this and it just makes me mad.
He should ware that uniform with pride especially when he's here in the states.
So I say thank you to your husband.
The general population has a bad habit of taking their frustration of the government out on the DOERS, not the MAKERS.
Perhaps next time someone gives him flack he can ask what that person has done for their country.
There's no shame in that. None.
