This was actually written my my oldest son. He sent this out to several hundred people in his address book, but I feel I can reach a broader audience here and on other boards I belong to.
-------
As most of you know, and a lot of you don't...
My younger sister Ashleigh was in a very serious car accident in Arizona last Monday in which she was ejected and has sustained life-threatening injuries. To keep from having to re-tell all of the details in a lengthy e-mail and constantly e-mailing you about her progress, I had a website set up in her name so you can get information on what happened, stay updated on her current progress, leave her a message and sign the guest book for her to read when she wakes up, and even make a small donation if you'd like to help in that way. You can also read the local newspaper article written about the crash. She's in a very grave condition and the only thing I request is that you please pray for her - and pray hard. We're still not sure if she'll live and even if she does, she is permanently paralyzed from her midsection down...
For those of you that don't know, I am the oldest of 5 siblings and Ashleigh is number 3. I was 8 years old when she was born and I actually helped deliver her in the doctor's office. I also cut her umbilical cord. I helped raise her for most of her life and she also lived with me for some time while she was trying to get on her feet as a young adult.
This is a very difficult time for my siblings and me and I just want to thank you for all the support you have given me personally in various areas of life, whether it be in my personal life, in the martial arts, or in the police force.
Please visit her site and leave her some words of encouragement. Ashleigh and my other siblings would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Allan Manganello

Ashleigh is on prayer lists from my friends, including Tibetan Buddhist, Southern Baptist, Presbyterian, Russian Orthodox, Morman...I know it helps.
The doctors keep telling me that they don't understand how she survived. Ashleigh suffered the identical injuries to Princess Diana.
I can only thank the actions of off-duty fire chief Maxwell who witnessed the accident and was first on the scene. He's personally told me that she should have been instantly dead at the scene and that he's never witnessed anything like it.
I had no idea that her injuries were identical to Princess Diana.
You know, I wondered about something. Would it be possible for Ashleigh to use Barbara's old laptop to read e-mail etc?
Please try to hold on. You're doing GREAT so far, and you know I'll be there on Thursday to help you de-stress.
You know I'm counting the seconds...
;-)
Yes, the punctured aorta should have bled her out in a few minutes, but it didn't.
Cortni is leaving her laptop with WiFi for her sister. This is a progressive hospital that actually has WiFi!
I am counting on you to help me "release" (Sedona Method lingo) the tension that I'm bottling up at the moment.
A parent is never supposed to outlive a child...I think that was written on a third tablet brought down from Mt. Zion with Moses...
All of the kids have to return to their "real" lives tomorrow. Ash has another surgery scheduled tomorrow, so visitation is pretty much an exercise in futility.
Chief Maxwell and I are becoming friends. He rode along several times when Barbara had to be transported, so he knows me.
At the Buddhist monastery here, Ashleigh has been entered twice in the prayer chain because it's important. I'm going to see one of the local Native tribes tomorrow for a piece of fur from the "sacred wolf" for healing. That's what kept Barb alive for 8 months.
Yes, her injuries are identical to Diana's. The human body cannot tolerate decelleration from 80 k.p.h to 0 in under 1 second. The Aorta is under pressure to begin with, and can easily rupture. This is what happened to Diana and also to Ash.
For some miraculous reason (and that's the word being used by the doctors), Ash developed enough of a clot to prevent bleeding out at the scene. I wonder if that's because her personal doctor's nurse was the first on the scene and called the monastery immediately after she called 9-1-1. My assistant at STA was on duty at that moment and immediately began prayers. I know that's why Ashleigh is still alive.
I don't know, and I really don't want to know. That worked for Barb as long as she wanted it to, and it appears to be working for Ashleigh. That's all I care about at the moment.
God Bless You and Yours at this time.
I know that as any CCU nurse, you had the most difficult job in the hospital.
It's almost ironic that I took 2 semesters of pre-med in college, but as a dumb-assed kid, couldn't see another 10 years of school...
My daughter is in what they call the CVCCU (cardio-vascular), because there are still stitches in her aorta that they have to monitor.
A lot of people coming across here may not understand that there are still miracles. That's exactly what happened, and are still happening at this moment.
The prognosis may not be what I want, but BREATHING IS GOOD! If I know my daughter, she will walk again (maybe not well, but she will do it!). Will she drive again? OVER MY DEAD BODY!
I am personally fortunate to work for a company that teaches us how to relieve stress and problems like this...I currently have the full support of the owner and his wife and I know their support is genuine.
I totally agree. I have witnessed many "miracles" in my time. They happen and they happen regularly, we just have to recognize them.
This is one of those times.
Last Monday, at this moment, my daughter should have died. She didn't.
Do I believe she will recover? Yes.
Will she make a full recovery? We will see. Breathing is good. Tonight, I'll settle for that.
I'm sending kisses and hugs you way, Walker!! I am glad that my being there will make so much of a difference to you...it'll be good for me too. It'll be good for both of us.
Someone once told me that crisis either brings people together, or blows them apart. I think we know where we stand. *kisses*
I'll bring my coffee pot with me, and we can have Turkish coffee for breakfast every morning.
My heart is going out to you, dear Walker - may God help you and your whole family - and send Ashleigh "quick and speedy" recovery! :-)
Love and blessings - S.
Please take it as easy as you can, and I wish your family all the best in these troubled times.
Take care.
There is no excuse for her survival except a miracle. Normall when a car rolls, you think that it rolled sideways. This one rolled nose down. The radiator was in the back seat.
