Great news for anyone who wants a shot at getting published

I wanted to share this with my Gather friends, especially those who enjoy writing and have some material they would like published.  Recently, I became a member of the Harper Collins publishing web site called Authonomy.com. 

The editors of this huge publishing company have developed this website to bypass getting an agent, allowing you to upload your material (must be a minimum of 10,000 words because they stated they want serious writers who have either partial or completed fiction or nonfiction work) and publish it for others to read, rate, and comment.  But there is so much more.

For starters, aside from reading, rating, and commenting, those who like what you posted can "Bookshelf"your work.  This increases points.  And what do you get for these points?  Each time you advance with more backing and points, you get closer to the "Editors Desk".  So, when you get down to the top 100, the editors will pick the 50 best, I believe, and they place it on the "Editors desk for a month."  While there,  they read all books selected and if they find something they like, bingo, a publishing contract.

I know, it may sound like another slush pile they sort through, but for all you gatherers who post partial material here and get so many comments, think about what your novel can do on this site.  I'll give myself as an example.

I posted one of my novels "DEEP WITHIN", back in August.  I started out with a number of 2,988, which means that there are so many other books ahead of me.  However, since I started I received 10 backings (that's where your book is shelved on other writers profiles for all to see they backed you) and now I'm down to 1465.  That means I'm getting closer to the editors desk.  I'm so excited.  This is why I wanted to share this with you, because of the opportunity involved. I know, I also could use your help if you become a member and post your work, but will certainly help you out as well.

So, if your serious and want a shot at having your material/novel (min 10,000 words in order for it to upload) then come to this site, register and show off your work.
