Again, from my fantasy drills collection. Something a bit different.
Epic of the Black Salt Hills
We watched behind the fortress wall,
built from stone and wood.
A hundred years we thought they'd stand,
for a thousand years they've stood.
Whispered prayers moved through our ranks;
a breeze through leaves of trees,
as more than one elf called his Gods,
while knelt on bended knees.
..and the drums from the deep kept pounding,
pounding.. pounding..
The drums from the deep kept pounding
Beneath the Black Salt Hills
By sweat and blood and firelight,
we forged our precious blades.
Miles underneath the earth,
We worked like mindless slaves.
Forced from land and home and hearth,
We traded for our clothes
Without the grace of sun and field
No crop nor cattle grows.
We bartered steel for meat and bread
Gems for cheese and rum,
Tonight we take back Ours-By-Right
Tonight we beat the drums!
..and the drums from the deep kept rolling,
rolling.. rolling..
The drums from the deep kept rolling
Beneath the Black Salt Hills.
They’re marching with the darkness,
A sea of steel and bone,
To kill our men and steal our crops,
To rape and burn our homes.
A thousand years we lived in peace
But peace shall die at dawn!
We’ll meet them with the bow and knife,
We’ll meet the dwarves head on!
..and the drums from the deep kept pounding,
pounding.. pounding..
The drums from the deep kept pounding
Beneath the Black Salt Hills
We braid our beards and drink our ale
-A mug for those that fell!-
A thousand years we've battle trained
To escape this pitch black hell
They thought to jail us underground
in holes and darkened caves
But tonight we show our blades and shields
Tonight we shall invade!
..and the drums from the deep are pounding,
rolling.. pounding..
The drums from the deep are rolling
Beneath the Black Salt Hills
