The only way in which it may be on the right track is increased voter interest, but I have seen that before and the newly interested voters became non-participating cynics when the first candidate they ever supported did not get elected. It was symptomatic of what I believe has become an even larger societal problem, the expectation of near immediate gratification. It now reaches into virtually every aspect of our lives.
Off track, we need to polticians who forces on issues at home. They never really seem to focus on problems in the states. Unless it has to do with screwing up education, making things harder on senior citizens, or increasing taxes.
