For me, I love to be nice to people but go the extra mile out here because I am hoping that it keeps me safe in some way. I did something nice yesterday a little boy lost his money and was trying to buy bread so, I told them I would pay for it. He looked so distraught! Great article!

In fact I did.

I telephoned the parents of James Byrd, Jr, in Japser Texas. (the young man who was killed some years back). While talking with his mother I learned that today was her wedding anniversary. I sent her a dozen roses.

*Gags at Roger, points and says...You goodie, goodie! Good for you! I haven't left the house once today, but I've been nice to several people nonetheless. In addition to leaving a comment here and there on Gather, I was on the phone for my best friend to vent while he was out apartment hunting. We both plan on moving after Labor Day and he was checking out a couple places for me to take pictures and E-mail them. I'm in a different price range than he is, so none of the apartments we wanted to check out were the same. We're best friends. We love each other to death and would do anything for the other, but we're not partners, so we can't co-habitate because there's just enough about the other we wouldn't be able to live with and not being a couple, there's no reason either should have to compromise their ways for the other. We're truly The Odd Couple. He's 5'8, some gay mannerisms, young and adorable and a total partyboy slob, but has responsibilities he comes through on. I'm 6'4, masculine, 10 years his senior (pushing 40) and nothing to write home about and am more of a homebody and a near freak who likes the freedom to do his own thing when he wants in the way of accomplishing things. Anyway, he was in a whiney mood because there were a couple places he wanted but would have ended up paying way too much...$850 for a one bedroom. He went to look at two places for me...right in the heart of the European-type business area filled with sidewalk cafes and eateries...and tons of business and people...and one has a second floor balcony overlooking the sidewalk and street. He was mad because he wanted something like that, but they didn't have what he was looking for there. He hemmed and hawwed all day...and was finally heading home after 6 hours of tours...and he was on foot. I let him blow off steam and try to cheer him up by making him laugh. He's a good friend, so it's the least I can do...be nice to him. Later, an acquaintaince stopped by who got in trouble at work and needed to whine about that. We partied a little, had some fun, made him forget about it for awhile until he had to leave...and it hit him he had to deal with his wife over it...LOL! I'm nice, but I'm not sticking my nose into that to help out.

Rob: sometimes just sitting and listening to others whine is a nice thing to do especially since most of the time there are other things that we would rather be doing. And thanks for being nice to me and leaving a comment, I read you whenever I get a chance and feel very honored that you find time to stop by and check out my not so creative writing.

good point, Barbara... it's always good to pay attention and at least try to be nice :)

I always make sure I have at least 4 kinds of cheese in the house to go with all the whine...LOL! And why wouldn't I check out your writing? I read many posts...things people have to say, so everyone is a creative writer...all with their own style. I may not have anything to contribute, but I have been known the comment here and there. And thanx for checking out my stuff, too, though it's been awhile since I've posted. Once I relocate to a new city and get settled into my home, who knows what may happen. Maybe I'll create something to read.

I try to be nice to people as often as possible. I'm just not sure I'm very good at it sometimes.
