Sometimes a good sitcom gets dry and boring. Well, my Nursing School Chronicles are getting dry and boring.....even to write. Usually at this time, they bring in a new annoying character. Well I am going to do a twist on that. I am going to introduce you to a couple of "estrellitas" in the Nursing School Quadrant of my Universe. And they are not annoying.....they rock.....no.....they RAWK!.
Introducing........ "Jenny(FAH) from the Block"
We took Jenni(FAH) from her original block (the Bronx) and gave her a new (cell) block. But that doesn't mean she has forgotten her old block. It is her point of reference.
Example: JftB: These people here in Virginia don't know how to drive. In the Bronx....
QOtU: ....the bad driver to square foot ratio is smaller. Here in Virginia we just spread our bad driving out so we impact other drivers slowly.
Jen is incredibly smart. A total "A" student like all the time. But she is a total "A" student with class.....and this totally admire. I have witnessed other students "negotitate" their "A"s. In my humble opinion, that would be great if we were lawyers....but we are not. I have yet to see a nurse negotiate a paitent back to life after a wrong answer. So what I am trying to say here is....JenifAH? She is the "REAL DEAL". Yeah, she got it like THAT. Can she get a double woot?
JenifAH is the only Latina in our group. So she bring in the "Sabor" to our group. And a very distinct sabor. I love having her in class because we are forever being taught about cultural diversity. Well for those of you who don't know, Jennifer and I can remind you. Latina does not mean Mexican. People from Puerto Rico do not eat tacos....unless they are in the US eating at Taco Bell or fine Mexican Eatery Some Mexicans don't speak Spanish. Central America and South America are not Mexico. And Mexico is not Spain. And JenifaH is there to tell ya.....because no one believes the gringuita. (warning gentle reader: I am going to slip into my Frontera Girl lingo past for a minute so I will translate on the way) The best thing about JeniFAH is that she is a CABRONA (to put it nicely a tough girl) but she is a CABRONA with class. And she has the ganas to tell me when I am being a PENDEJA (to put it nicely a doormat or stooopid) And you have to love and admire your friends who can tell you "Hey girl, you are being a straight up pendeja" Without making you feel like a first class pendeja and not be all chismosa (gossipy) about it. Orale Carnalita. (hee. translates "Right on, sister-cousin friend in a Mexi-slang kind of way. She can call me a pendeja again later.)
Ok and JenifAH is a Catholic overachiever. She puts all of us backsliding Catholics to shame! Ok so I would say that maybe 1/4 of our class are "nice Catholic girls and boys". I fit in there somewhere....only I am not so nice. Ash Wednesday comes, but we have a quiz or test or something standing in our way to get our Ashes. JenniFAH had the times of the Churches in close proximity so that if given adequate time, we could go and get our ashes. And that is impressive. But what was more impressive to me is that of all the little devout Catholics in our group. Some of whom left, to get ashes supposedly, only she knew why we take the ashes. Now we never made it to Mass and I am not here to say I am an upstanding Catholic....I am probably the worst Catholic ever. BUT what I admire about JenifaH is that she is sincere in her devotion. I don't care if you are Catholic, Baptist, Hindu, Hare Krishna, or Rattlesnake Roundup for God worshipper. Worship with sincerity and know what you are doing and why you do it. But that is just me....the bad Catholic speaking. So should the day come that I go back to the church.... I wanna be like JenniFah. NOW.....these are only some of the things that make JenifaH great. But those are stories for another day. Expect to see this Cabrona in future episodes of the Nursing School Chronicles (Jen - for today in honor of you they shall be pronounced the Nursing School Chroni-key-lays) <-----She is going to kick my ......crown.

Sooooo today is do or die. I will try to teach her the new "gather" concept this weekend. One more piece of information and both of us may very well blow a neuron and we need every last one. BUT I promise! I will get her here.
And eventually I will tell you about shoLANA <---yep that's what I calls her.
And I am working on getting her here as well.
