LAST NIGHTS DREAM

For the past year, I have had the same couple of dreams. I dream about my boss telling me that my "speed with service" is terrible. Or I have that dream about my history teacher from ninth grade falling madly in love with me, and me telling him that I am now of age, and I am no longer his study so it is fine for us to live together forever in a tiny cottage in some beautiful little town somewhere in Italy or Spain. Or I have that one dream where I am either in a school, a mall, or work but I am not wearing shoes. Now nobody notices that I am in just my socks, sometimes I am barefoot, but I cannot stop obsessing about my lack of footwear and then, suddenly, I am falling.
          Last night was different though, I did not dream about my cottage in Spain, and I had shoes on, and I was not being lectured by my main boss about my drive-thru time. Last night I had a dream that left me with both a warm fuzzy feeling in the pit of my stomach and a slight headache.  I enter the dream standing in the middle of work. I see him standing there in his black uniform. Every detail is so precise. I can read the letters on his name tag, noticing only the bolded word in all caps under his name: MANAGER. He glances up at me, as I stare at him, and smiles. With a shy look in his eyes, he asks me how I intend on entertaining myself after work.
          Next thing I know, I am in a movie theatre. I am dressed in my favourite skirt and those brown polka dot flats I adore and he is sitting very still besides me. He is still dressed in his work uniform; the word MANAGER on his name tag glows in the dark movie theatre. He lifted up the movable arm rest and put his arm around me. I turn my head up and gaze into his blue eyes. His lips slowly part and he whispers, “Kiss me.” Even in a dream that nervous sensation erupted inside of me. I closed my eyes and kissed him.
          My mind skips to the two of us sitting in his car. He is gingerly holding my hand. The heat of my cheeks lets me know I am blushing profusely. All of a sudden, he is digging around in the trunk of his car. I crane my neck and wonder if I should get out of the car when I notice a Super-Soaker is in his hands. He starts to spray the window with water, taunting me to come outside and play. I exit the car and start running around the lawn. My shoes fall off in a fit of joy and he is chasing me. I feel the soft splash of water against my bare calves. I fall to the ground laughing. He falls to the ground next to me. The last thing I remember is him holding my face in my hands and telling me that I am beautiful.
