Lady Fate's Decisions

Outpatient surgery; waiting room...
The room sits there; still, eyes closed
its soul pacing through the space.
Receptionist answers the phone; A.K.A., "Chatty Kathy."
Two minutes later she says out loud, "Graham family."
Father Time strolls in, ten minutes later;
Chatty Kathy calls out, "Kilby family."
Family? Yes. The word family hugs for some warmth.
Who lives and who dies?
Who lives and who dies?
No one really
May be everyone
who waits and who rests on a metal table
No one really knows except for God.
May be everyone
who waits and who rests on a metal table
No one really knows except for God.
Nervousness almost overwhelms the young Irish woman.
Slowly, she raises her hand and says,
"I am Miss Kilby's daughter, Dawn."
Fifteen minutes later...Mrs. Graham begins to mourn
the loss of Mr. Graham.
We shall pray for the soul
who has been released
and for them who are not.
The Irish woman counts minutes like a rosary.
We shall pray for the soul
who has been released
and for them who are not.
The Irish woman counts minutes like a rosary.
