When I read the cleaning and sterilizing instructions on a new package of baby bottles and feeding-related items, they all say to boil them only once before first use. However, my mom said she used to boil the bottles (and everything else) after every single use. My mother-in-law also said she used to boil the items after 2 or 3 uses.
We have been boiling the bottles and such after every use. We use mostly glass bottles, so they are fine, but some plastic items (such as the collars and the storage bottles) are melting a little bit. I am concerned maybe we should not have been boiling them so frequently.
I am wondering if you boil your bottles (and other stuff) only once before first use, or after every use, or in some other manner. Please share your experience and thanks in advance.

I used to only boil ever 2-3 uses but I would run them through the dishwasher and then rinse again in hot hot water every time, even before I put formula in them.
I have boiled and used the microwave bags (I like those the best), but I think sometimes we take "germs" too far. I mean, clean the bottles and such, but you can't keep your baby sterilized. Eventually she is going to find a crumb (or who knows what else) on the floor and have it in her mouth and tummy before you can get it from her. It won't kill her (deadbugs don't even kill babies! LOL!).
I use heated dry so they get steamed and kills more germs, I bought a holder that goes in the top rack and holds all the little things. Nothing has melted on me yet.
Yes, you do have to acclimate them with germs that are naturally prevalent, however, they can pick up some pretty nasty bugs that their little bodies just aren't ready to process.
