"We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees."
-Jason Kidd, upon his drafting to the Dallas Mavericks
The question is, does it have a LIBERAL bias. Those who consider the old times as being the best consider that only the interpretation of the Constitution has become liberal in recent decades. Those who consider the times in which it was brought into being consider the Constitution very liberal indeed for those times.
Of course, the Constitution and the law itself is rather conservative in concept in that it attempted to maintain the status quo of the late 18th century in the U.S. That got out of hand in the following years and the thousands of laws since then (at the national level) have attempted to keep things going despite considerable technological and social change. Naturally it has failed.
The result is that we now have a vast panorama of concepts of how government, the constitution, and the law should be considered with different parts being considered liberal or conservative depending on the point of view of the observer. In other words, it can be labeled however you like and some will agree and some will disagree.
That's what keeps Gather going, I suppose. :-)
The Constitution is about constraining human nature as it manifests itself in government. The claim that the Constitution is less applicable nowadays due to technological advances is just bunk - Human nature hasn't changed that much in 220 years (if at all).
The Constitution is not less applicable today than in the past. It can still be applied. The problem is that there are new ways to evade the Constitution. Things that were impossible in 1800 are now commonplace. The place of the family in society has changed. Certainly weapons of war have changed. (Do we each have a right to own a functional ICBM?)
The fundamental idea of three branches of government in some sort of balance is brilliant and very much needed especially today, Other basic principles are also still very sound. But it is only law and we ignore the law most of the time and we don't enforce the law very well and the law will not protect us any more than it protected former slaves or the citizens of Japanese descent.
Liberal is a person with liberal views. However, an EXTREME liberal is the WORST type of person. To start with they brainwash people. Then they convince you that their pre made views they hand to you are open minded. They tell you to hate Republicans and everyone who thinks differently than you. They are the first to throw around the word racist. Most extreme liberal abuse minorities. They look for a group typically blacks or hispanics, convince them they are nothing and need the liberals to survive, then exploit them for political power. Extreme liberals are usually igorant but claim everyone else is. They pretend to be looking out for the people but are only looking out for themselves. Some day people will realize this is the truth.
Now listen, I am only talking about EXTREME liberals. Liberals aren't great either but extreme are horrible Extreme republicans are just as bad. Extreme anything is bad. The moral of the story folks, stay middle of the road, don't completely trust any political group because hey, once you get far enough up in the line there is no difference in the groups they are all selfish and corrupt. Keep an open mind. Think for yourself. Don't believe everything you are told. Have fun. And pay attention to the details here before you flip on me.
If you like the other options available at that time, then that is your call, I guess.
This guy is a disaster and a complete delusional narcissist-UM-UM-UM.
Just one of the true definitions. Like everything, everyone has there own interpretation.
I am far from a conservative lmao!
I like the term, "One foot forwards, and two steps back".....
Naturally I have mixed feelings about that President.
Then, when the donkeys drop from exhaustion trying to keep up with the elephants, the elephants reverse and trample donkeys.
It's all very easy to understand ... which is why smart people are usually confused.
Hm... sounds like you're saying we entered WWII on the wrong side.
Has anyone here ever volunteered at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter? Have you ever seen a neighbor or family member have to beg from friends, sell their home to pay health insurance premiums? Suffer from depression because they can't buy groceries for their kids? Maybe it's not as grave as the Great Depression, but people are hurting -- big time.
The callous comments of some on this thread are so hateful, and the inaction of the Republican Party to which I once belonged so spiteful, makes me doubt the goodness of humanity, and I have always been an optimist.
From Wikipedia....
John Galt is a fictional character in Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged. Although he is absent from much of the text, he is the subject of the novel's often repeated question, "Who is John Galt?", and the quest to discover the answer.
As the plot unfolds, Galt is acknowledged to be a creator and inventor who embodies the power of the individual capitalist. He serves as an idealistic counterpoint to the social and economic structure depicted in the novel. The depiction portrays a society based on oppressive bureaucratic functionaries and a culture that embraces the stifling mediocrity and egalitarianism of socialistic idealism. In this popular mass ideology, the industrialists of America were a metaphorical Atlas of Greek mythology, holding up the world, whom Galt convinces to "shrug," by refusing to lend their productive genius to the regime any longer.
Now the morons badmouth great presidents to push their minority views.
I want to keep my freedom and liberty.
Should one give up freedom and one's liberty to the state?
Hypocrite.
I didn't throw anything at my laptop, just now, so I must be getting better.

It 's like if you asked a kid if he wanted candy and macaroni&cheese for every meal, he'd say yes. It takes a grown-up to tell him that regardless of how good that sounds, it's not a good workable long-term plan. Kapeesh little Democratic children?

"No business which depends for its existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country."
"Taxes, after all, are the dues that we pay for the privileges of membership in an organized society."
"Remember, remember always that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists”
"Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.”
Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.
The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.
It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.
The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.
Confidence... thrives on honesty, on honor, on the sacredness of obligations, on faithful protection and on unselfish performance. Without them it cannot live.
Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.

Creating A Conservative Candidate Platform For The Next Election!
No person’s insistence of an idea makes it engaging until it meets with some approval and scrutiny of their peers. This discussion is an attempt to form an organization that can develop a plan with merit that without doubt, each issue has a in-depth discussion to seek the middle and the importance of this requires professionals in each area of expertise to validate the thought process, through their professional opinion or scrutiny with a description of that opinion or scrutiny. Adding additional nuances that improve on the original intent is commendable. This attempt to build an organization is to help insure like-minded people who are willing to become part of this organizational team, will have a venue to help further the agenda , which will design a complete platform for any conservative candidate, that we can all support.
This is a format for in depth consideration of collective ideas and not for complaints from opposing party affiliations about the issues being discussed in this forum. To start the discussion I have provided eleven issues, which is not to say that there are not more, it just means I have put together 11-and would like to begin the discussion there, one issue at a time and see where it leads. Due to the length of the material it must be placed in blog format. If you would like to contribute, you can do so on the blog or, in the LinkedIn format. But each time you contribute, define the topic and then contribute with your opinion.
The eleven issues are:
1. Political:
2. Economics
3. Legal
4. Accounting
5. Military
6. Medical
7. Social economic
8. Scientific
9. Education
10. Movement Planning
11. Productivity
