Small number? One is small to but to many when its only for war profiteering. Most of these troop deaths are young people many no more than 18 that were thrown into a corporate war they did not belong and many of these troops that have been in Iraq since the start are going to be sent to Afghanistan to support a blood fort oil pipeline.

These are the recorded numbers. What about the ones that the military doesn't tell you about?

Gates said in a speech last week that from January through June this year there were 87 deaths reported in the military. But, that there were also 87 suicides of military personnel that went unreported.

How many soldiers have taken their own lives because of this folly?

Very good point.. no tto mention the lives their trama ruins when they get home. The alcoholism, drug use etc....

And no one wants to mention the people who didn't invite us in to bomb the hell and livelihood out of their country. They lost family and friends too.

Sheryl mentioned the suicide rates - those numbers will continue to rise long after the end of this mistake.

Dont forget the number who were permantly damaged, both physically and mental and the toll they take on those around them for the next 50 years. The miliatry and the Va only admit to about a 33% ptsd rate but most of them go undiagnosed for years if not decades... PTSD is a silent killer and many do well to keep it hidden till they explode or cause another to.

Our armed forces have lost a number of troops recently. And the Ministry of Defence, with crass ineptitude decided today, when 2 more bodies were given a civil escort through the town of Wootton Bassett, to take 2 injured servicemen's compensation awards back to court. It would appear that both men were badly injured and were given a level of compensation. THEN they deteriorated and needed more treatment and the compensation level was increased. The MoD is insisting that they should only be given compensation for the initial injuries, NOT the complications caused by those initial injuries.
The world has gone mad.
