The Bush administration is up to its old tricks again, quietly putting ideology before science and women's health. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is poised to put in place new barriers to accessing common forms of contraception like birth control pills, emergency contraception and IUDs by labeling them "abortion." These proposed regulations set to be released next week will allow healthcare providers to refuse to provide contraception to women who need it. We can't let them get away with this underhanded move to undermine women's health and that's why I am sounding the alarm.
...
These rules would even interfere with New York State law that ensures survivors of sexual assault and rape receive emergency contraception in hospital emergency rooms.
In case you don't read read the full article, here is the action item:
When I learned about these proposed rules, I immediately joined with Senator Murray to call on the Bush administration to stop these dangerous plans. I am joining with New York family planning and healthcare advocates to spread the word. Now is the time to raise our voices. I will continue to press HHS and I hope you will join me. I have posted information on how to get involved here.
Hillary Clinton.
Stop them now! These guys are dangerous. Also, when reading you can substitute McCain for Bush on every sentence. If you can't, ask McCain where he stands and you will find out (once he finishes spinning full circle) that he supports Bush once again on this.
Since this is a Huff Post Op-Ed, I am linking it instead of posting the entire article. Read the full article. Bush and McCain's plan will kill women's rights and lead to disastrous social consequences.

Doctors should not be able to refuse medicare patients, pharmacists should not be able to refuse service.
I don't object to this becoming a separate issue, but wage and price controls need attention, and soon.
Anyway, this is just unbelievable! Why would they not want to give women birth control? We sure don't need more people in this world. Especially more poor people. Those women who can't afford birth control will just have more babies who can then get on welfare and cost the government in tax dollars.
It just doesn't make sense to me. Why would they want more welfare babies?
Wouldn't it make more sense to ensure that everybody who wanted to have a baby did so, and nobody who didn't want one didn't, as opposed to ensuring that more children who will not be adequately fed, cared for or educated will be brought into an already overtaxed system?
It should also be pointed out that Hillary supports the killing of life at any point including when most of the life is already outside the mother. It is generally true that one should mistrust such extreme positions as reality often requires us to seek the best option somewhere in the happy middle of both extremes. In the real world embryos fail to implant all the time. I may not be happy with such abortions, but in an era where abortions are legal until the child's head leaves the woman, I think such actions are in many ways putting the cart well before the horse and only encourages the extremes of the other side.
you say it all. The same people who call people on welfare "The Bastard Factory" refuse to provide birth control pill. They want to end welfare, yet don't see to understand that a good place to start is probably less babies who can't be taken care of.
Apparently they have better solutions, let's hear it.
Given that George W. Bush supports the killing of life at 18 years after the head leaves the mother's body (by sending young enlistees into combat in Iraq) can we use your logic to assume that he, too, supports abortion?
LOL Jonathan.
Will this nightmare ever END???

Can they really get away with this?
They've done worse.
..
U wishing you laughter
Are you suggesting a puppet Presidentcy, similar to what (some have suggested) we have now?
If so, I could go along with that.
and you must have been reading my mind to go back and include McCain.
It is very important for the Electorate to
really KNOW
where the honourable Senator from Arizona stands on these issues,
if they are to make an informed and responsible decision in November.
"The regulations could even invalidate state laws that currently ensure access to contraception for many Americans. In fact, they describe New York and California's laws requiring prescription drug insurance plans to provide coverage for contraceptives as part of "the problem." These rules would even interfere with New York State law that ensures survivors of sexual assault and rape receive emergency contraception in hospital emergency rooms.
WHY are they always attacking California?
Could it be that they KNOW California is LOST to them in November anyway?
as well as other reasons, like standing up so strongly for Women's Rights?
Why are they after Cali and New York? They can't stand those two states. The two crown jewel. Everyone who comes visit American wants to go to one or both of these states. Ever heard, tourism in Idaho? LOL.
The right wing nuts hates everything about those states. The culture, the great schools, the great and diverse restaurants, the hippies, everything.
