I'm at South Station (Boston) waiting once again for my Amtrak train to New Jersey to see my love. They have a huge beautiful winter scene set up in the middle of the station with trains going up and around it.
It's very crowded here; there is a Father with his two daughters sharing my table. They are about 11 and 13. Typically when you see two sisters the younger one tries to be cool and dress like the older sis. Not in this case. This is the cutest 11 year old I have ever seen. She's in a blue velour jumpsuit with a faux leather coat with faux fur going around the hood. She has ear phones in and she's holding a bright pink purse. She also has a clip in streak of fake hair that is bright pink and it is the cutest thing ever. Her sister is quite the opposite. Sitting here reading a Judy Blume book dressed in plain jeans and simple plain sweater and jean jacket.
From where I am sitting I have a clear view of the magazine stand. I see this woman in a business suit, long dressy trench coat, brief case, and she has luggage. She picks up the latest issue of People and just walks away with it. No joke! She just grabs it and goes. I thought it was a little crazy but THEN she walks back after placing it in her brief case, and she walks around the stand again and I now see her grab a newspaper. She then checks if the clerk is looking then walks away again. The stand was crowded so no one noticed. I guess kleptomaniacs come in all different forms.
Behind me sitting on the floor against a wall is a guy about 23 mini Mohawk. He's sitting on the floor with his drum sticks, drumming on his legs. He seems like a pretty interesting guy.
My train is boarding, I of course sit as fast as I can whip out my computer to catch all the people going by and boy oh boy was it worth it.
This kid walking past me still has the tags still hanging off his hat. Not just a small Macy's price tag or anything but if you join both your index fingers and thumbs to make a square they are about that big. I do not see the point of this. Seriously I'm checking out his tags more than the hat.
The train is extremely crowded, I've had a stressful day and my head is pounding. Behind me is an Older Irish couple and the husband looks IDENTICAL to Bono. I'm not exaggerating. I'm listening to them talk and their accents are so calming and fun to listen to.
The train is now moving and I am of course scoping out my material and notice Kelpto is sitting two rows ahead of me but in the next aisle. At least I can watch her, and now I will not only be people watching but I will be keeping a close eye on all my baggage.
I hear the two strangers ahead of me talking and they both realize they are getting off at the same stop (Stanford), and they are both reading the same book Eat Pray Love. Which I have also read and now I want to strike up a conversation about it because I loved it ha-ha.
In the row beside me is a creepy looking man, trench coat, overgrown facial hair, and hat. When I look over at him to smile he just stares back. He reminds me of the older man in Home Alone that creeped out Macaulay Culkin's character. His character thought the older man was a murderer or something and he just so happened to see him everywhere, but would avoid him. In the end of Home Alone it turns out the creepy old man is not so creepy and very kind and helpful. I don't think that's the case with the fellow next to me.
I fell asleep briefly with my scarf on the seat beside me and when I awoke my scarf was on the floor and there was a woman sitting next to me. RUDE. There were plenty of other seats open. I don't think it's rude she chose to sit next to me, but what if I fell asleep and my boyfriend just happened to be in the café car? Also she threw my scarf on the floor.
I hear over the loud speaker "Next stop Stanford, if you are getting off in Stanford please collect your belongings." One of the women is still sleeping. Like I said before they were both getting off at the same stop. Yet she doesn't even acknowledge that the woman next to her is still sleeping, she then proceeds to get up and leave. I got up and awoke the woman and she was clearly angry her seatmate didn't awake her. I also find that very rude.
A couple rows behind me I can hear two children bickering and I really want to hush them. Later I hear the mother threatening them "Bradley you have now lost three presents, Becky you lost two. Keep it up and you'll both lose more. "I personally would not threaten my kids with Christmas gifts, and clearly it's not working because now they are just whining at her. Which I find more annoying.
I see two younger girls maybe 10 or 11 walk past me to go to the bathroom, and they were dressed like hookers now joke. Thin strapped cheetah print tank tops with a little belly showing, platform shoes, and a short skirt with tights. The other is in a halter top, tight jeans and high sneakers. Where is the mother of these girls? I'd like to see what she's wearing.
A woman about 15 just sat down next to the unfriendly older man, and she keeps rolling her eyes. I have no idea why. She is also making faces every now and then. Scrunching her nose, making faces like she's disgusted, and I really have no idea why.
Walking past from the snack car is a man about 6'5, incredibly lean, skinny jeans, and tons of piercings. One on each side of his nose, two in each eye brow, lip, chin, and at least 5 in each ear. Interesting.
Also about 2 rows in front of me I can hear a man blowing his now. He has blown his nose so many times, and so hard I don't even know how he is still going. Time to get off!
I'm sure I'll be writing about my ride home on Tuesday :)

Did you ever see the Bruce Willis movie "Unbreakable"? Where he had the power to see things about people just be touching them! Great movie!

As for the woman making faces and rolling her eyes - she may be autistic or have Tourette syndrome or something of that nature.

Very fun to read,
hope you do more of this.
That was very entertaining, as I like to "People Watch" also. Isn't it strange how different so many people are? LOL People from all walks of life have often entertained me over the years, but your article entertained that much more... Thank you for a walk down memory lane from days gone by... God bless you! May you and yours have a wonderful Christmas and New Year! Sincerely, a friend through Gather .com
