Thank You Cards (survey)

Do you send thank you cards? If so, for what occasions? I do send out a lot of thank you cards for little things like helping me out or doing something above and beyond. However, I have friends that reserve them for bigger events like wedding gifts or large parties. So, I leave it to my friends here on Gather, when do the thank you cards go out at your house? Also, is an e-mail just as good?

I do thank you cards sometimes. Like someone made me food after I got out of the hospital, I sent a card. Otherwise, I do send out a lot of note cards.

I live to send Thank You cards, note and I have many many types of stationary. I hate the fact that people don't send personal letters and things the way that we used to. You can only do so much with a e-mail.

I very rarely send out thank you cards, even though I know I should...I guess I'm just too lazy to do it...but I do send them for big events like weddings.

I have never been able to do much beyond personal thank yous, but I try to follow those up with my appreciation, so they know I am sincere. Cards, notes and postage, are usually out of my budget. I do send formal cards for formal occasions, and I always send special letters to people when I can reach out to them for any reason, not just to thank them for something.

I send thank-you cards and notes about 90% of the time. I think it's important to do this, but sometimes I slack.

I do send thank you notes, for gifts or parties. I don't think an email does the trick. I don't send them to my own family members if we were together when i opened the gift (for example my parents).

e-mail is good for small things for gbig parties but if somone does me a great favor I will send a thank you or a thank you call

I am obsessive about thank you notes! I write them for gifts received, for when people go "above and beyond" to help me out, etc. I, also, make my kids write them out (my 12 year old and my 10 year old write their own notes, I help my 4 year old write hers, and I always write them for the baby.) If someone can take the time to buy something special or make a gift for you, you can take the 5 minutes it takes to thank them in writing.

I do for every gift that I recieve or when someone does something that really helps me out. I have a stationary collection and love to use it, besides, it is just good manners.

I just sent one to my mom a couple of weeks ago. We had some drama here and she was nice enough to let me stay in her guest room for a night. She saved the day and the hotel room cost:)

I want to always send thank you notes. I think its a really nice touch and it makes people happy. Unfortunately I don't always remember to send them out. I think a personal phone call or an email is better than no thank you at all but I think a real thank you note in the hand, through snail mail is the best way to thank someone for a gift or for doing something for you.

I do send thank-you cards but I'm not as good s you are about it. I have sent them when my friends and family gave me a surprise 30th b-day party, or when so many people showered me with gifts, cards and mostly support when I was going through my cancer.

Of course one should for weddings or wedding showers and baby showers too but I haven't celebrated any of those yet. ;)

I send them for just about anything ... even if a thought about that person helps me through a really tough day. I wish people would do that for others, too. Sometimes that little 'thank you' reminds you that you're not invisible and contribute more to other peoples' lives than you think.

I was taught as a child that it was proper to send thank you cards for most occasions so I always have. I have noticed that these days a lot of people don't bother, especially the younger crowd. I try to make an effort and handwrite a card, but if time is of the essence I use e-mail or e-cards.

I send out thank you cards or place a personal phone call when it is a birthday gift or something that was done for me. I do not send thank you cards to someone who exchanged a gift with me because it was an exchange. Maybe that's wrong but that's how I do it. I send out cards when someone does something nice, or ehe ven when they make a particular comment that was nice or lifted me during a rough time.

Yes, an email is okay. To me, it is the thought and the appreciation that count.

I know I should send out more Thank you cards than I do because i love to receive them. Also its great validation after looking for a special gift to know that it was appreciated. I usually will Thank the person directly in lieu of a card but I suppose a card is best.

If it is a BIG occasion or a SPECIAL occasion then I send them out. If it's birthdays or holidays I normally don't unless it's from a boss or a surprise type gift.

I am bad at getting to the cards, but I try to say thank you and really mean it. I think that an email is a suitable alternative, but honestly, I do not know if I am a good judge.
