Remember too that it's not a war on terrorism, but rather is a war on terror. How exactly one makes war on an emotion has never been adequately explained.

I haven't seen this particular allegation but nothing Mr. Bush does behind our backs surprises me a shred. When considering such operation, has anyone ever said "how is this going to look if it's ever leaked and gets into the press?" Can you imagine how many really bad decisions could be avoided by asking that simple question?

Well, I think if it is too painful of a truth it simply WON'T show up in the press, at least not the companies who rely on corporations for their support. Those corporations NEED this war to keep getting richer, so of course they would suppress any truth. I'm surprised we even got to have the privilege of finding out that, but it's nothing new, it has been goin on since we "employed" a gang of thugs in 1953 to topple Iran the first time so we could cram the Shah down their throats for the next few decades.

Iran has accused the US of doing that. Not suprising. But do you really believe it?Do you believe who deny the Holocaust, over our own government? The US probably has CIA people in Iran, just as the Iranians have their special ops. people in the US. But I dont think its as deep as you claim. It is not in our interests to do that.

They will call this a war on ....... fill in the blanks of whatever will suit you that allows them to continue it.

But for anyone with either half a brain or a shred of decency and honesty, they would have to admit that it is purely an excuse for imperialistic expansion into the energy realm of oil ... the same old story ... greed for power and control that comes from profit $$$.

These people justify everything they do with lies and deceit ... they use everyone else for their own purposes ... if there is such a thing as evil, they are the epitome of it.

They make all of the 'rules' that we are supposed to obey then freely break them for their own selfishness and pleasure. Such is 'our' world ... and 'they' will claim otherwise of course.

Typhoon, I think you are misled. I admire you for your innocent loyalty to your leaders, I wish I could be that trusting. But any study of world history in this past century will reveal that it is our WAY OF OPERATING and has always been. Read about the Iran Contra scandal. Read about our disastrous Bay of Pigs. Read about our training of bin Laden and the Jihadists in our war with Russia in Afghanistan. Read about our supplying Sadaam with weapons and the gas that killed the Kurds. Right now we are funding the Fatah al Islam to fight off Hezbolla. We have ALWAYS rented thugs to do our dirty work, and if they are the same terrorists that the whole "war on terror" is all about, well, so what? In that one particular insance they happen to be useful. When they are no longer useful, they are the enemy again. I just think that in order to earn any kind of respect from the world they should at least be honest about it but then they turn around and insult us by pretending that we are too stupid to be AWARE of all these lies.
Did you know that right now Halliburton is supplying nuclear technology to Iran? Hey, Isn't that Cheney's home grown Texas outfit? So what? Where money is concerned nothing else matters. Corporations are non-partisan-national-patriotic. That's why precious valuable people should not be letting themselves get slaughtered for something so sleazy. There is no rhyme or reason for who we support or don't support. The only thing that talks is money. (Power/Political gain.) Why don't they just admit that to begin with and stop fooling people into investing their souls into something that is so unworthy? If the profits of war did not exist - there would be no war. It really is that simple folks. Serving the public that put them in power is the last thing on the minds of these bastards. Has the administration not noticed the rising anger and frustration of the people? They seem oblivious, given that they now voted to continue and fund the war that the MAJORITY DO NOT WANT. What happened to for the people, by the people? Bush will get to Iran one way or another. His call to try and start a war there backfired so this is his second option. The FACTS are that Mr Bush has authorized covert operations to destabilize Iran. Iran is not the originator of that ACCUSATION, The Central Intelligence Agency is.

US Military officials have been quoted as saying that they would be able to hit Iran as requested by the White House, but object to expending the munitions until targets can be positively identified. Not refusing to attack, just saying they did not have the cross hairs properly aligned yet.

In our view, terrorist is he, to whom media says he is terrorist. For example, Hizbullah in Lebanon is an internal army of general public who are operating in southern part of country helping people to uplift their life from poverty and illitreacy to good standards. With these activities, they are also safeguarding their teritories and boundaries. Protecting our own boundaries is not a sin nor its a bad thing. Then also our government says this act of these loyal people as terrorist.

This is propaganda of media which is handled by government. So we need to beware of all these things.

It is not the government so much as the shadow government- corporate interests, that control both our government and the big corporations, and run both for a profit, for corporations, at the expense of government, and therefor the people of this country. When the deficit can no longer be maintained, and we have to start paying it down, all the little piggys shouting huzzah to this president are going to be ready to lynch the one that starts cleaning up his mess. Before I get the avalanche of RIGHT WING PUNDITS concerning the New York Times, Let me say this. It may be one of the only major "independent" resources left. Besides, the New York Times did not publish the book. They only review it.

Mark, I thank you for pointing out that I become abusive with people who disagree with me. It is probably a correct assessment of my reaction to people who threaten my strongly held beliefs. Or demand that I adopt theirs despite vehement disagreement with them. I presume that you mean that I tell people what I think of them, and the opinion they hold when I feel like it. And that you find this abusive. You're perfectly right. The fact is I pick my fights carefully, and I use whatever is available to do battle with, I don't get into fights intending to loose.

Your contention, in response to this article, seems to be that we should be preempting any Iranian advancement in weapons technology because they might act like we act on the world stage. I see this quite differently. We have become the aggressor. Others, desiring to remain free of our domination are taking steps to insure their own future. They should be. Every nation on earth should be finding allies to defend them against the USA. It is madness to presume that they will not, and it is even more insane to believe they don't have a perfect right to.

The USA has no inherent right to determine the fate of any person not represented by the people who govern this country. We have no more right to collect tribute from Iran Pirates have to collect tribute or spoils of war.

We have no more inherent right to occupy and dominate Iraq than Iraq had to occupy and dominate Kuwait.

Preemption is not an option open to the rational. Under that guise, every living human risks summary execution. Anyone is capable of great evil.
