My Phone Has Been Highjacked!

The politicians have found a way around cold calls to their constituents. Now they just call with their canned messages. It wouldn't be so bad, but of course, they have nothing to show up on the caller ID. So, I have to wait and see if it is someone 'live' or one of "them". I will just be so glad when the election is over.

They are even leaving the messages on the machine! Someone called last night wanting to know if I was voting democrat or republican for judge. I told them I wasn't discussing it! Let this be over soon...............

They had a news story about this last night on my local channel. It is crazy how the DO NOT CALL registry doesnt apply to politicians on grounds of free speech. That is fine though, let them call me and the will be getting my free speech in person, and they will not be getting my vote!

Caller ID is the way to go. You know as soon as the message comes on, the automated thing just hangs up. That's the best defense.

Yes, that is one of my pet peeves too. It has been a months since I even checked my messages because they just get to be too many friendly words from my ever so friendly politicans.

I just don't answer if there is no number in the caller ID - they can leave a message - also my phone is set up through my fax to detect computer calls and automatically disconnects them then sends a tone to the calling computer and is supposed to delete my number - I don't know about the deleting the number part but that was the claim to fame when I bought it but I do know it disconnects computer calls.

I hate ANY unsolicited phone calls. It's to the point where I don't even want to answer the darn phone anymore.

Seems pretty ridiculous to have to buy more gizmos to fight off other gizmos, doesn't it? I have caller ID, but nothing shows when these jokers call. I would like to have something like you have too Debra, but until then, I just let the machine get it and then delete the messages once a day.

How do they know to wait for the beep? Inane, mundane phone calls but of course I'm getting out there!

I hand-delivered a DO NOT CALL letter to the DNC of Illinois after 57 messages were left on my answering machine two weeks ago while I was away on business. They apologized profusely and said it would never happen again.

This Monday, I came back from another out of town trip to find my phone loaded up with 41 more messages from the DNC. I guess they just don't have the enthusiasm of 2 weeks ago.
