How very sad that a politician would make fun of our troops. Senator John Kerry should be ashamed of himself for belittling our hardworking, honorable men and women who are serving the country he is supposed to represent. With attitudes such as this, who needs enemies? He should apologize to our brave men and women, and all Americans. Serving in the military is an honorable choice, and I'm proud of those who do. They are the backbone of this country, and deserve our greatest respect. If you have not seen Senator Kerry's disgusting comment, you may find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLuMWiQ6r2o

Never forget Bush's words at that dinner for millionaires. "It's good to be here, with my base....The haves, and the have mores"
Would you consider that a compliment? Talk about a discusting comment!!!! wonder why no one asked him to explain or apologize for that?
Donna,
Kerry comment is much more egregious. Let's face it. He really screwed up. Whether it was a botched joke ,a slip up, or whatever many of us have family members serving in the military. We were offended. It does not matter whether you are a Democrat or Republican. His Republicans are trying to paint the Democrats as weak supporters of our military and Kerry comments gave them the opening that they needed. He did a real disservice to all Democrats in the upcoming election.
What in the world makes you think he, Bush, does not hang out with those people!
"I wish you'd have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it…I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with answer, but it hadn't yet….I don't want to sound like I have made no mistakes. I'm confident I have. I just haven't — you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one." —President George W. Bush, after being asked to name the biggest mistake he had made, Washington, D.C., April 3, 2004

Go figure.
wouldn't you?
yup!
Perhaps I'm a bit strange, but I like his sense of humor. He was not putting anyone down. We all know what kind of people go to that kind of dinner, whether Republican or Democrat. They are those with financial means. Was he putting them down? I think not. It's a cute joke in my opinion.
Thank you for your comments.
I did hear he finally apologized. He said yesterday he would not. I'm glad somehow he did finally, at least for the sake of our troops.
Sandy,
Most of those quotes you mentioned were funny! Some of them did not put anyone down, but just sounded silly or funny. Others could be taken more than one way, such as the quote about our enemies and women and OBs. Most would not be considered put downs, like Kerrys, unless the context of our wonderful President being the "master of low expectations" was about some of the Democrats he was dealing with at the time. I'm glad President Bush has a sense of humor, and I'm really glad he's a real man who wants to defend our country. "Bring them on!"
Thank you for your comments.
Bonnie,
The war is being fought with the greatest technology by the greatest nation and the greatest group of people any nation could provide. I don't see it as being botched, and I'm very proud to be an American and see our troops doing so many
good things. If you would watch FOX news objectively instead of mock it, you would see they do show some of the good things our wonderful men and women in our military are doing around the world. Some are rebuilding schools so children in their war torn areas may attend school again. They are getting electricity back to places that did not have power. They are providing water for areas with out. They are making places safe where families were being torn apart by a terrible tyrant. I don't get to see FOX news often, because we don't subscribe, but I prefer their broadcast to our local stations. The lead story tonight was about a security officer
shooting a family dog. Is that a top news item? I don't think so, but that's another story altogether.
Joe,
Thanks for commenting.
His comments could impact swing voters and hurt Democrats in upcoming elections. You can not excuse his screw up by comparing him to Bush. They are mutually exclusive. If you are blindly going to defend him like Sandy and Bonnie that tells me you are an extremist. His behavior is inexcusable.
