My Turn I Suppose?

This has been happening a lot. I changed my settings so I only get notified for my connections, not every group, but I only get notificatations on about a tenth of them.
There was a favorite of mine that I thought had gone away from Gather, and I was stunned to see she's been here all along!
Gather is so full of glitches it may just fall apart.

I've noticed lately too that my email alerts have decreased quite a bit. I assumed that people were just being quiet lately. But maybe that's not it after all...

John, I'm having the same problem. For a while I thought a lot of connections had disconnected since I wasn't receiving notices and conversely the connections aren't commenting on my recent postings. Then I checked the list again and realized I am not getting notifcations. I assume my connections aren't being notified about my postings either.

Wow that is a serious addiction to get that many emails a day. I get notified of articles, images and new members for all my groups (13 of them) and then a few other groups I get new articles. I suggest changing it in your settings as you could reach your max with your email acct rather quickly.

Also wanted to let you know that the group owners group is for posting one article which is a listing of all your groups, so this will have to be rejected.

Not getting all of mine, either. And no more daily list of connection activity.

This just makes you an official Gatherer, John. My noifications seem to shut down entirely every few days, dribble in for a few more days, then the dam bursts and my mailbox starts clicking like a castanet player on crack. If Gather doesn't get its tech act together soon, I'm afraid it will simply implode, leaving members' members scattered all over cyberspace and Gatherholics twelve-stepping faster than Michael Flatley.

Bonnie- I have plenty of email space, so that is not the problem. I empty it everyday as well.
I hesitated putting this in "group owners", but then thought perhaps an experienced person owning a group may have an answer. No problem.
It still isn't working properly either. When I booted up this morning I had 112. I have more connections than that, and even should be getting alerts from a few groups. Something is still broke.

I've found quite a few in my spam box, for some unknown reason.

I'm getting all 4,000 of mine..........seriously.......want some?

150 a day isn't enough to keep you busy?

Stephen- sure, but I read a lot. I'm disabled and can't work, so I spend a lot of time in here. It beats old television shows for the most part. I can never read them all usually, but I try to keep up with my contacts writings as much as I can. I comment more than write, probably because I spend so much time reading....;-)
Kathryn- you're a gem. Something is still wrong, but I am getting more as of today.
Martha- I've never set-up a spam box on this email address, so that is out.

I get about 10 a day...and thats enough! Hundreds or thousands must be madening? No! You must be joking. When do you sleep? Or don't sleep at all?

i have always turned off all my alerts so i really don't know. thanks for writing about it though as it seems others are having similar troubles.

"I would normally get 1500-2000 a day, and now it is about 150." How do you deal with that? It would drive me CRAZY! I only get emails when someone comments on my posts, which isn't more than a handful a day. God bless you, John, you have more patience (and time, I'm guessing) than I do.

Like I said Chris, I'm disabled at home, and seem to have nothing BUT time. I can't read them all, and do dump my box for Gather almost everyday of what I can't read. I just like knowing what my connections are doing, and seeing all the variety here. Beats TV all to h***......;-)
I do need to get around to publishing more though, just to busy reading, ha ha.

ok I try again, I have posted to this article three times and still no-show.

OK here goes, check your settings we have had people settings on alerts get rest before, and this usualy they are reset to almost no alerts.

Emmett- thanks, I have checked the settings and all is fine. I did notice that for some reason my age had been thrown out in settings, although it still said guarded viewing off. I re-entered everything, including undoing, and redoing my notifications. As of this date, the amount coming through seems sporadic, with thousands one day, and a couple hundred the next. Still not like it used to be at all, even with increasing contacts.
You know, I used to get notified of my own comments, which I thought was dumb. That doesn't happen anymore either...that's fine. I'm beginning to think that this is all tied to Gather volume somehow. I'm just going to go ahead and monitor it for a while until I feel like searching for specific examples of what ISN'T coming through for Ben. I'm just worried that certain contacts might think I'm ignoring them for some reason when it's not true.

Personally- I like that I am not getting bombarded by tons of email... I like this glitch!! ~L

I got tired of the flood of notifications and adjusted my settings accordingly. So far I'm pretty sure I'm getting everything I should. Sometimes it takes a long time for them to show up though.
