From the L.A. Times:
"The latest pol to receive a self-inflicted egg facial is Lynn Jenkins, a freshman Republican congresswoman from Kansas, who according to the Associated Press told a group of constituents Aug. 19 that the GOP is “struggling right now to find the great white hope.” She added: "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington."
From Wikipedia:
"The Great White Hope is a 1967 play written by Howard Sackler, later adapted in 1970 for a film of the same name.
The Great White Hope tells a fictional idealised life story of boxing champion Jack Johnson, here called Jack Jefferson.[2] Acting as a lens focused on a racist society, The Great White Hope explores how segregation and prejudice created the demand for a "great white hope" who would defeat Johnson and how this, in turn, affected the boxer's life and career."
The GOP has described Jenkins' comments as "A poor choice of words" and a "Freudian Slip." A poor choice of words, to be sure. A Freudian Slip? How so, when she was reading from a script that I assume she read before presenting it.
This crap happens too often to be accidental. Is this thinly veiled racism? What do you think? Those who know me know what I think.

I am tired of their attitude and based on the last presidental election I am in the majority.
If she didnt realize she was saying she is ignorant.
Not someone I want in government to be making decisions that affect my life.
How about, Bobby Gindeal, the perfect choice, he is dark skin but he not a negro, perfect but he is not mean enough not the cowboy type. Hell, he might wind up acting like Gandhi, oh god forbid!
Read this article. The administration, the DNC, the Kansas Democratic Party nor any other group is concerned about her "remark".
No one is crying FOUL but you all.
Even Maxine Waters, the outspoken Black CA Congresswoman, played it down & said that it was probably a Freudian slip. Ask her off the record what she thinks and she would melt the wallpaper.
Jackie Robinson, the 1st Black man to be allowed to play Major League baseball, went through this same humiliation of having to surpress his emotions and not strike back against the hatred & bigotry he was subjected to. He proved his worthiness in the only way that he could; by playing, & playing well.
I can only imagine how difficult this must be for Black people, but I don't know if I would have the courage to do it myself.
but that will probably be sarah palin.....
Three years is short and the problems are huge there is much to fix and not a great deal of support as of today. Time will tell.
