I have come to expect
Those who would be cruel
Who cast me as different
Words of rejection they hurl
But I thought I would know
Their stares give them away
The loud whispered remarks
I could pick them out any day
Those who would stab me
When my back was turned
Thought I had become aware
Whose trust I had earned
Now who is this person I see
The face looks familiar from my view
But these words are not you at all
Whoever this is, it's not you
You would not quickly cast me out
Without warning to this lonely place
Nor freeze me in silence with that look
Of detachment on your stone cold face
There is no answer to be found
It must be a dream, not true
As I slowly open my eyes
The one in front of me is you

So sad. I hope something has not happened to you recently. Hugs.
Thank you both. It wasn't a break up of a relationship or anything but sometimes you get hurt by those you would never think in the strangest situations. Glad ;you liked the poem though.

Thanks for catching that Maria, I didn't even see that, trust is something we should count on and with this person as in a manner of speaking, she was in my life to help me, I thought I could trust her but now.................

excellent!
wonderful. I think we all feel this at times.
This is quite sad because the person feels a long passage of time has lessened their value in another's eye.
Sorry you go through these things Angie, I guess we all do, your poem was wonderful
Thanks everyone, yes these sad places provide me material for my writing sometime so I guess that's a plus.
We have to make all negative into a positive... or we try to accomplish the task.
