Well, then, Carol, I'd imagine you could go read one of those cut and paste emails full of lies about Obama that seem to be so in vogue with the wing nut set, and you wouldn't have to. There are more than enough of those to keep you occupied for a while...........
I got a McCain bumper sticker in the mail today. Free!!! Right. It was paid for by the supporters and by your own admission, give us the site sponsored by George Sorros(sp) who is the wealthy liberal. Any questions?
Excellent, Con Job. I wonder how many others would have gotten that.
In this Country, everyone has the right to speak. The problem exists when Elitists begin to say things to suppress or attempt to suppress that right. That is when I encourage people to speak all the louder.
NEVER EVER ALLOW ANYONE TO SUPPRESS YOUR RIGHT OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Anyone who opposes it, or judges it -- by their very own words -- proves that they themselves are UNPATRIOTIC.
What I dislike though, are LIES and DECEPTION.
For example, Lera's button:
Where is the "Obama for America" campaign disbursing that button, Lera?
You know that you are a frustrated Obama supporter. Spill it, Linda. I've already told his people that you are. I know it, you know it. Come on, Linda. Let it come on out freely!!!
-- middle name is Mohammed -- is a Muslim -- went to a Muslim school -- was sworn into the Senate on a Muslim Bible -- is a member of the Black Panther Party and so on,
What you know, and what I know does not matter. For them to see the pin you have displayed may very well become yet another Urban legend.
"and by your own admission, give us the site sponsored by George Sorros(sp) who is the wealthy liberal. Any questions?"
Yeah, when did telling people they could get a free Obama button at moveon become something I needed to "admit". I think it's right there in the url, for God's sakes. You conservatives may think Soros is the devil, but no one else does. Now I know lots of non liberals that think GW Bush is..........
As for the giant button up there, I hope you enjoyed it while it was up, as it's coming down. I'm pretty sure it violates more than a few laws about using someone's name or even a campaign's name without permission.
"Yes, but what does she mean by 'you folks'. Is it some sort of racial slur?"
No, it's a species slur. Carol has often commented that "you folks" are worse than maggots, and actually Demogots. We are maggots, in other words. I wonder what maggots ever did to her?
Another Democrat who deletes comments. I'm collecting them as souvenirs so the next time one of you people decides to say that only conservatives delete, I can have a nice long list of diamond links to show off.
What you know, and what I know does not matter. For them to see the pin you have displayed may very well become yet another Urban legend.
What urban legend? He did sit in the man's church for over twenty years. Oh, that's right he threw uncle Jeremiah under the bus when it all became known. lol
Sue, removing an offensive button that falsely represents someone is not the same as removing comments when you don't agree with a statement. Not even close.
Deletion is deletion, Sandy, unless you want to make a list of what is and isn't OK to delete according to your terms, of course. If you want to make rules, make them before the game starts, not in the middle of it.
Deletion of anything ruins the whole thread, especially if people have commented on whatever was posted, be it a picture or a comment.
I find it particularly funny that Obama says that he isn't Muslim like being Muslim is something to be ashamed of. Some Muslims have told the AP that they wish he wouldn't act that way.
Obama has to keep saying he isn't one because people keep claiming on the web that he is. At the same time there are Muslims who probably wonder why he has to keep denying it and why it matters at all. And the world spins on.
Sue, you are responsible for your content. I'm pretty sure lera's picture violates more than one copyright law and therefor Gather TOS. Any violations of TOS will be deleted in my articles, if I know about them, since some conservative chooses to flag all my content that violates them and turn me in. You reap what you sow.
Oh, Ron, so sorry. I should have known that yours is always a noble cause. Not so related, but just a random thought that has come to mind: I will always remember the time I exposed a once, very popular writer here on Gather for his blatant plagiarism. As always with the liberal faction, it's not the deed that matters, but who has done it. He would have been promptly forgiven had they not seen fit to totally ignore the infraction.
TJ, With all the cut and paste email lies going around this place, you wonder why the guy's campaign is afraid to give the nut cases a new thing to lie about? That's a good conservative "blame the victim" strategy you're espousing there, don't you think?
I can only assume then, that you are referring to this silly interpretation for his lack of Irish spirit.
“I would hazard the guess that the campaign's concern is more with distorted-and religiously inaccurate-reporting by Obama's detractors than with any actual signal that might be conveyed,” he said, referring to false rumors that Obama is a Muslim. “You don’t want to have some blogger come along and say ‘Obama is showing his true color.’”
That's not how I see it. I don't even see it as having anything to do with Hamas. I don't see green as a becoming color to him though. In fact, I don't believe I've ever seen him wear it. I understand that his wife picks her own clothes. Apparently, she loves him enough not to pick his.
No, not an answer to my question, TJ, and not a good example. Sorry.
It would seem only practical, in any political campaign, to defend yourself from the possibility of false statements, wouldn't it? I guess it's a sort of Catch 22 though. If you act proactively someone is going to accuse you of acting like you're accused.
I know I wouldn't want to be called something I'm not, even if it's not a bad thing. It's just not who I am and that's that!
The memo was sent out to staffers, not Obama himself. I doubt he needed any prompting, as you say, never seen him wearing green. A lot of turbans in cartoons, but no green.
"Why can't people simply agree that both McCain and Obama are poor choices but that Obama is the better of two poor choices."
I guess you haven't ever seen what I've written everywhere on this site about that. So many of you think that voting for a candidate without a chance to win is a wasted vote. Ron and I have already been through this. The political machines dictate two choices. Well, I consider it a waste to live in what is supposed to be a democracy, and not exercise the freedom to make my voice heard that I am NOT pleased with either of the dictated choices. If you really feel that a vote for Obama is a lesser of evil vote, Jeff, which I'm sure some others do too, why don't you admit that it's a vote of fear that someone you like even less will get elected if you should not vote for Obama? Typical of a dictatorship to put fear in its people.
This kind of thinking disgusts me, and I see it all over this site, not just with politics, but with every aspect of people's lives. If they are given two choices, neither of which they particularly like, they will still choose one of them, the one sligtly more palatable, instead of refusing both and finding something better, or doing something a different way to get what they do want. That isn't the way I do things. I'm not a person who can settle. Americans, in general have settled, and now they're the loudest mouths complaining about what they settled for, but isn't that always the way?
It just occurred to me that some nit wits will think I'm referring to games where people pick a lesser of two evils. No, that's not what I'm talking about.
It's called reality, Sue, join us once in a while. Wasting your vote on someone that has no chance in hades of winning is moronic, and likely will take votes away from that lesser of two evils, which may let the worse of the evils win, so there you go, tilt at windmills if you want, and it doesn't take new math to figure out Bushco has leveraged a hostile takeover of America, and sold all her assets. We have been truly "had" by the cronies of Bush and Cheney.
As I said, Ron, we've been through this before. I already know what you think, and for the most part, I've also been able to discern how you think. You're set in your ways and your thinking. I accept you for whom you are, but I don't agree with almost anything you say. Your reality is based on your perceptions which, according to what I have gleaned from your posts, are not deep. Let's just suffice it to say that if your perceptions were a pool of water, a non-swimmer would not drown easily.
"And I have not a doubt in the world you'll pull that lever for McCain, should he survive the campaign."
We cross posted, but this is a perfect example of what I just said in my last comment. You simply don't have the capacity to understand how anyone could possibly think differently.
It also PROVES that since I know what I am going to do, whether you would or would not like to believe me, that your self deception abounds, making it impossible for me to see the validity in anything you claim to THINK you know.
Personal insults are against Gather TOS Sue. I've warned you about that already. Do I have to turn you in, as others have turned me in for the same thing? It would pain me to do so, but if you don't refrain, I will. As for that set mind, it's called experience. Been there, done that, seen third parties come, and seen them go. You do what you want, just don't expect to have your coercion of others to waste their votes on my articles go unchallenged
Ron & Buddy, Telling his campaign not to wear green because he *might* be called a Muslim is just another indicator of Obama's poor thinking. By being so defensive about his alleged Muslim-ness, he is doing nothing but proliferating the myth that he has something to feel guilty about. Would you be so understanding of McCain if he told his staff not to fill up at ExxonMobil stations? Or if he told his staff to only shop at mom-and-pop stores (not big conglomerates)? Or if he told his staff to never wear a cross so he won't be judgmentally assigned to the "religious right" without his say?
Sue, that is an answer to your question. I searched for another AP article I read a few weeks ago about those Muslim women the Obama staff wouldn't let sit behind him, and how one of those women told the AP that she feels that Obama is acting like being Muslim is a bad thing, but I couldn't find that particular article. It was not very well covered by the MSM.
Don, I linked to CBS News, which is not the same thing as FOX.
"Personal insults are against Gather TOS Sue. I've warned you about that already. Do I have to turn you in, as others have turned me in for the same thing?"
Would you please point out what you consider to be a personal insult? Sorry, Ron, I just saw this.
Sue, it is an unsatisfactory answer to you because you don't want to accept my point as valid. You probably also don't think that scalpels shoved into babies' skulls is evidence of the inhumanity of abortion, because you also want to never accept that little truth.
TJ, that's a little absurd. I am totally against abortion, but I do believe in God given free will, and I do believe in a woman's right to choose. If a woman chooses to terminate her own offspring, that eliminates the progeny of someone whose thoughts are so callous and inhumane. Genetics does play a big role in what a person's nature will be like. Perhaps a person who thinks this way should not be raising children, in the first place, so the environmental conditioning of that child will have been spared as well. It's a form of natural selection.
Con Job, I don't mind being called Jewish because I have many Jewish ancestors. Obama has Muslim ancestors. While being a Jew is a cultural and ethnic thing, not just a religious thing, to some extent so is being Muslim. Most Muslims are Arabs. If Obama can't accept this piece of his self, how can he expect others to do so? I have no problem with it. I just wish he would admit that he has Muslim heritage in him. I am proud of my Jewish heritage. It's part of me, part of who I am. It is part of the reason I am so protective of Israel.
Sue, many women who abort their children do not understand what abortion even is. This is no accident. Planned Parenthood is a big business, too, you know. I suppose you also support post-natal killings then, too? Under the guise of "natural selection"?
Wrong, TJ, being Jewish is a religious 'thing'. It means you reject Jesus as the Messiah. Still want to be called a Jew? No real Jew can ever believe that Jesus story.
On the issue of abortion, are you kidding me??? Women who get an abortion know EXACTLY what they are doing, where do you get your information from??
Waterboarding IS torture, once again, TJ, you are ill informed.
I never said I supported any such thing, so don't put words into my sentences that I have never written. When someone starts that nonsense, I know it's time to quit the interaction, because "you just want to be on the side that's winning."
"Do you take me for such a fool To think I'd make contact With the one who tries to hide What he don't know to begin with"
And now I know you're dissatisfied With your position and your place Don't you understand It's not my problem
I wish that for just one time You could stand inside my shoes And just for that one moment I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time You could stand inside my shoes You'd know what a drag it is To see you"
TJ, Obama has not only admitted his Muslim heritage, he talked extensively about it in a book he himself wrote. Now what you seem to want him to admit is something entirely different. What I think you're trying to say, is you want him to admit he is one, which can't happen, because he's not. Waterboarding's not torture? News to those that have undergone it. Have you? Would you like to?

It was Sydney J. Harris.
