LIFE'S DUES

No one said it would be easy

And they were correct

This thing which we call life

Sometimes is not what we expect

Each day is a hurdle

That gets taller every day

We all want to leap over it

But some cannot find the way

Some wishes are not granted

And some that we obtain

Could end up being that

Which cause us the most pain

We pray for perseverance

To try to get us through

But do we really follow His path

With some of the things that we do

We yearn for acceptance

Just wanting to fit in

But would that eliminate

All the hurt we feel within

We attempt at forgiveness

For those who caused us grief

But do they merit our pardon

Or do we just seek relief

Everyone wants happiness

We search all around

Where is the euphoria

That it just cannot be found

Yes I am a Believer

But the world is quite a mess

Or perhaps I speak on my own behalf

I am a bit lost; I must confess

We must live for each moment

And embrace the good we find

I try to grab onto that

And steer my actions in kind
