It feels like...

A cold settles

around my heart as you sit

in your chair 

and think of another. My mind

races as I think

of ways to cage

you. I'll take you

away from temptation

and keep myself

from pain.

 

Your smiles are not

for me anymore,

since you have devoted

time to everything

other than our vows.

My eyes throw scalpels

at your balding

skull. I want you to

stay -

go.

I want what I will never

have again. I want the

sparkle in your eye

to be because

of me. 

 

I'm torn between

the love

and the rage

I feel. You complete

and disgust me. I feel

alone, unwanted.

What can fix

the pain? When will

I stop aching

for you? Time

cannot happen

fast

enough

to drownd

me -

the agony.

This was started a few weeks ago but I finally finished it. Rick and I were on the verge of separation, but now we've worked on things and are HOPEFULLY all right. I just had to express or blow up completely! Thanks for your comments, I just wanted to explain a little since I forgot to say anything along with the poem!

I can understand this kind of frustration. It's happened a few times over the past 28 years! I'm glad you've resolved the problem.
Then I'm relieved...didn't see your post until after I had posted mine...we must of been typing at the same time lol

Quite intense emotion of anger. To love someone so completely and not feel fulfilled is a terrible sadness to bear.

My parents broke up (never divorced) but not over another woman - it was my dad's overriding jealousy and control so I know from the sidelines how this feels for the family.

A painful poem, but a genuine and a good one. I'm glad you've gotten this out, and I hope that it's cleared your mind for the relationship work to come. The verse, "You complete / and disgust me,"-- broken just where it is, between those seemingly irreconcilable feelings--is very nice.

Thank you all so much for your comments. We continue to work out our issues. Things go very well and then down slope. But I don't remember life without Rick, so I don't think we'll ever be apart! Again thank you so much for all the support!
