I am in merchandising. So I basically make my own hours and I don't have a boss breathing down my neck. She is about an 1 1/2 hours away and I NEVER hear from her....
Best job I ever have had!!!
I hate getting overwhelmed with deadlines, pulled in many directions at once, and being limited in my creativity sometimes, due to corporate rules. Oh, and working in retail for as long as I have, I now never enjoy any holidays. That's probably the worst part.
Still, I remain and do the best job I can. I'm friends with my boss and my co-workers, which is also a plus.

Second Chances
Monday-Thursday, so I put up with the crap. When my five years is up, I'm out. I'm
halfway there. Can you say, grin and bare it?
Forms, log sheets, data entry, I hate that part. Having to bow down and go along with orders that I know are politically motivated and not in the public good or the most efficient way to do things... I hate that too.
There are days that I love my job. Other days where I plain out hate it. Like when my kids and husband expect me to do everything. They think just because I am home all day I should have everything spotless and a hot meal on the table as soon as they walk through the door.
That being said, I love it when I get to do field work and actually do the stuff people think a marine biologist does. Most of the time I am chained to a computer, writing, analyzing data, and looking at fishery rules and regulations, which can be interesting, but is less fun.
one bad thing would be that i have to drive during the winter.....course i get to write my gas off as a tax expense!! gotta love that!!!
I also love that I have a self-employed business that I run from home. I am able to work at home at hours that are convenient to me...right after I get home from my PT job, after kids have gone to bed, etc.
The only thing I don't like about being self-employed is that since I have a service I offer by preparing payroll for local companies, in order to go on vacation I have to make sure I get the hours for the week before from ALL of my clients before I go and work like a dog getting it all done so I can have the checks prepared and taxes deposited before I go away. It would be nice if I had staff to take care of the clients instead of doing it all myself.
But I make good money and just had a baby so cant afford to switch jobs at the moment
I love the office environment.
