Ungrateful People Make Me Frustrated

These are my business associates that I am talking about, so I will try to be discrete and leave out the exact details. But I am very frustrated at certain people's behavior. Let's just say that I helped out some business associates at various situations. When they couldn't meet a deadline, I jumped in and helped. I have always done a great job for them, no matter how tight the deadline is. They have also verbally told me how good I am, and how appreciative they are... blah blah blah.

But recently some stupid computer glitch happened. I was getting an "OK" message on my end, even though it was not OK on their end. So, seeing that message, I thought my job was done.

A week later, I was surprised to find out that it was actually not OK. No matter how I explained that it was not my fault, they blamed me and had me bear the consequences. What happened to all the other times when I bailed them out? What about all the nice words about how they appreciated me? This wasn't even my fault. Of course, there was no trace to prove that I was telling the truth.

I will get over it. I always do. But right now, I am still upset.

I feel for you. I have had to deal with something like that at my work. It is amazing what people will do to not accept responsibility for things.

There are always some people in this world that will never be grateful, no matter what happens. Just remember to continue with your life as before, pitching in and helping. You sure don't need to lower yourself to their standards (or lack of).

Oh, I know that feeling!!! They're appreciateive on the outside, sort of, when things are going well, but when sh*t happen, they split!

Oh, I understand that you don't very well by this. Try to forget it and the behaviour of some people is something difficult to understand. If it is not your fault you don't need to worry ; it is always easy to blame someone. Even if you make a mistake nobody is perfect. Don't feel yourself guilty.

I'm so sorry, Dolphi. I've been in your position and it really does hurt. But, I've learned that people treat you a certain way because of their own personality, not because of yours. I have just learned to do what I want to do to help. That way, when they aren't grateful, I don't care. I haven't put myself out. I've only done what I wanted to. True, I usually do a lot to help other people out, but since I wanted to do it and it made me happy, it doesn't bother me that it didn't make them happy enough to notice.

You know what, quit helping them and let them do their own work. I think they are just using you to avoid doing it themselves.

I'm sorry this happened to you. My mother taught me long ago that people tend to fall into 2 categories. There are the givers and the takers. If you pay attention, most everyone falls into one of these categories. You, my friend, are a giver.

Some people don't know what is appropriate behavior in a work environment. I always hated it when I would bend over backwards to help out other people and then they'd do nothing for me, or be complete jerks if I even made a tiny mistake.

Obviously the fact that they need to be bailed out over and over shows they don't have the capability or foresight that you do. Their problem solving skills is measured upon how well they can re-assign blame.
Years from now, when you are doing other amazing things, they will still be stuck in the mire and stench of their own little minds and will sit up at night wondering who they can sink their fangs into next so they can continue to feed.
It's all that parasites know how to do.

you are the type of person who will out again and again, and ever time you need help you will hope for the best in return... even when they disappoint you i bet you never give up hoping that next time they will not disappoint you. its who you are.... keep doing what you do.... karma is a biotch and one day karma will visit those who do not do the right thing

Welcome to the American workplace Selene ! You just became a scapegoat for some selfish moron who wouldn't admit his / her mistake, and then turned the blame on you.

I've been fighting this crap for almost 30 years, and from my experience, I've learned that you can't trust anyone who you work with. If you try to help them out, they will thank you by stabbing you in the back. " Thank you for helping me, but please stand still while I thrust the blade of my knife into your back while I get brownie points from my boss "

Trust nobody and help nobody. It's all about " Dog Eat Dog " here sad to say.

My ex-boss took credit for everythig good I did. If I came up with a good idea, or built a nice looking merchandise display, it was all his idea. If he made a mistake, it was my fault.

Of course he got his butt fired the day after Christmas, and guess what, it was my fault. This even came out in his un-employment hearing.
