I am a full grown adult and I love these books, however I read in our state journal that there is a county in Georgia that is trying to get these books banned.
I don't get it. Maybe being such an avid reader I believe that nothing worth writing is worth banning. That's what makes our country great. These are some of the greatest kids books I have ever read.
What ever happened to "Children should use their imaginations"??
I'm pretty outraged at this, as I am every time I hear of a book possibly being banned. If anything it just makes me want to read it more and I'm sure this is true for the kids.
I remember growing up, my father was totally against OUJIA boards. I was not allowed to have one even though they were soooo cool. Well maybe I couldn't have one but my friends could so I just used theirs. Nothing bad happened. Sure we loved to freak each other out, but that's where it ended. I don't practice voodoo or anything.
Thank you for letting me vent. :)

I'm glad my kids love to read and glad it stimulates their imagination. Think about it - most of these books usually have the good vs. evil thing and deal with making the right choices.........who doesn't want their child to learn this? Yeah, so there's lots of magic usually in this genre. Cripes, that's why they're in the fiction section! I dunno ........ unless somebody's afraid that their kid is going to try riding Mommy's broom........I suppose it could be bad if they tried this from the top of roof. I think they're just afraid that kids will wind up finding some skeleton's locked away in others closets.
I love Harry Potter and I am an adult!
There is nothing wrong with reading anything and everything to expand your imagination.
So few read anymore that it is sad.
If these books get just one child interested in a love a reading, then they are treasures, not evil!
This was a big deal when I was in highschool. The first thing I did was go buy a copy.
