Remember the old "Pogo" saying, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."
You need new material. Liberals who think "______" for example. Or are you for concentration camps for all believers in environmentalism, are pro-choice, equal rights, and believe in fair wages for all Americans? How about the ones who believe in the government actually acting under the law, not destroying the Constitution by destroying habeas corpus, or eminent domain rights?
Like I said, you need new material.
For the people who claim Bush is the bigger threat, explain why? And please leave the DNC/DLC moveon talking points out.
You should stick to things you are knowledgable about and not attempt to speak of things you know zero about.
You would do well to remember the US would not exist at all with out france. the French were extremely instrumental in guaranteeing that the continental army won the revolution. With out France you would be a monarchist singing god save the queen right now.
i agree with david. i think we need to pull back from this road, there is still time. i think americans need to pull together on lots of things, the economy, our identity and what we should do/what we can do.
hate bush or hate liberals, that's not the way to go.
we don't have a good strategy for this war on terrorism stuff. military action is not doing the job. how can we send our military out for 4 or more tours. what are we gonna do next year? send them on another military tour.
I happen to agree with your concern for overreachign government, but I agreed then too.
I agree with this 100%
I believe I was showing that the potential for abuse/misuse of power was above party affiliation.
I did not seek to rebutt your position.
Oh Lordy, do we really have to list the ways again?
Consider the fact that he's been in charge while all of these incredibly massive crisis situations have exploded. It's not been a coincidence, it's cause and effect.
1. 9/11 happened because he couldn't be bothered with national security
2. The national treasury has been destroyed because he did things intentionally to destroy it
3. The anthrax killer still roams freely because there was no real effort to capture him (it was used as a fearmongering tool instead)
4. Bin Laden still roams freely because he let him slip away at Tora Bora
5. The Taliban is rising to power once again because the job in Afghanistan was never finished
6. Global terror attacks are up exponentially, specifically because of Iraq
7. Not a single 911 commission recommendation has been put into place, because he's been too busy using terrorism as a political tool and weapon.
8. Our allies distrust us because we've lied to them so often, and have violated international laws and treaties
9. Our constitution lies in tattered shreds, because he's stripped away so much of it
10. Iran seeks nuclear weapons, because Bush has threatened them openly
11. N. Korea built nuclear weapons because Bush threatened them openly.
12. NOLA was destroyed because Bush cut funding required to finish the levee.
13. Hundreds, and perhaps thousands of people in NOLA died because Bush failed to lead
14. Political discourse in this country is shattered, because Bush (and his supporters) label anyone who disagrees with them a terrorist.
On and on and on and on and on. Cause. Effect. Disastrous, ill-thought, ill-advised, poorly executed cause. Disastrous effect. Every aspect of this miserable administration has been one colossal failure, EXCEPT their abillity to mislead, misinform, fearmonger, terrorize, and propogandize.
When are you getting back from lunch?
Clark,
In previous post you stated Bush purposely caused 9/11. It was a government conspiracy. Has your position changed?
Why don't we also blame him for marriages falling apart in this country? Why don't we blame him for violence in this country? Why don't we blame him for not making enought money? Everything else is his fault, so lets blame him for this too.
Blame Bush. He is the scapegoat for everyone's problems. If you got a problem, well you know who to blame.
And at the same time of your blaming, Cry me a river and just waaaa waaa waaaa
13. Hundreds, and perhaps thousands of people in NOLA died because Bush failed to lead"
Actually, NOLA was destoryed because Katrina happened, and contrary to popular believe, Bush can't control the weather. Thousands of people died because, what do you know, Katrina happened. How can you say that one person is responsible for this tragedy? Bush is the president of the Untied States, not a monarch. He is not the only person in this country who has control over things. In fact, he has very little control over how strong the good people of New Orleans want to build thier levees.
When are you getting back from lunch?"
Why?
"Clark,
In previous post you stated Bush purposely caused 9/11. It was a government conspiracy. Has your position changed? "
I've never said that he caused 9/11. I've always stated that he knew it was coming, and did nothing.
"Clark is for what ever the Bush bash of the day is. Good catch Mickey..."
Incorrect. Read above. You're both confused, which is no surprise from you.
"Well Clark? Which is it???? a conspiracy or could not be bothered??????"
Both.
"We all have figured you out Clark."
No, you haven't. You have no idea about me, because you're not bright enough to keep up.
"Radical loser"
See?
"Actually, NOLA was destoryed because Katrina happened"
Actually, Katrina did not destroy NOLA. It passed by, remember? It was the flooding that broke the incomplete levees that destroyed NOLA. Bush had previously cut funding for that levee project before it had been completed.
"Thousands of people died because, what do you know, Katrina happened."
No, they died because A) their city became flooded because of a failed levee, and B) Bush had privatized and gutting FEMA, reducing it to a completely inept organization that did nothing while people literally died and rotted in the streets.
"How can you say that one person is responsible for this tragedy?"
Bush cut funding for the levee project, which means that it was not completed. The levee was destroyed by flooding as a result, and when the waters destroyed NOLA, they caused the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands of people. The problem was exacerbated by the fact that Bush had gutted FEMA and made it nothing more than a profiteer's hangout run by an incompetent crony.
"Bush is the president of the Untied States, not a monarch. "
Please, tell him.
"He is not the only person in this country who has control over things. "
True, but he is the one who gutted funding for the levee project and then gutted and destroyed FEMA. Sorry.
"In fact, he has very little control over how strong the good people of New Orleans want to build thier levees. "
The project wasn't being run by "the good people of NOLA." It was a federal project. Bush cut funding before it was completed. Sorry.
We are so fearful we relinquish our rights and freedoms in trade for a little "protection".
And we still refuse to impeach the Predendident???
Holy Photon! All it takes is ten seconds. No one is none the wiser. It's the new Bermuda Triangle...people just disappear into another episode of the twilight zone.
Iran? Sure, they're trying to develop the bomb, though many observers say they are still a few years away on that one (of course, the same "intelligence" community thought Saddam had WMDs, so take it with a grain of salt -- perhaps we haven't got a bloody clue what they have). They also likely don't have the capacity to deliver a nuclear payload anywhere near North America. They have a leader, not their commander-in-chief mind you, who likes to spew hatred in his speeches, but they haven't attacked anyone since U.S. backed Saddam Hussein fought them in an eight year long war back in the 1980s-90s. Sounds like a lot of hot air most of the time.
North Korea: Okay, they have the bomb, though not the delivery capacity yet (working on it, will get back to you on that one). They have a leader who lives in La-La-Land, actually believes he is a "Great Leader" instead of a roly-poly wingnut with delusions of grandeur. Their society is pretty scary, though on the verge of starving to death most of the time. I doubt if the generals who let Kim Jong Il strut around like a reject from a Pride Day parade would follow his orders to nuke anyone, though. They'd probably just tell him it was already done.
Iraq? Well, the country is currently occupied by a smattering of US troops with a sprinkling of the remnants of the coalition-of-the-willing-but-not-too-swift. They have no effective government. They are very busy blowing each other to smithereens. They are the terrorist factory for the Western world at present, and as such probably present the greatest military threat to the US.
All of the above: Cannot possibly take on the US militarily under any scenario. Even if we grant that they all have access to nuclear weapons and some effective way to detonate one in the USA, that would be the limit of their ability to attack. It would be a great disaster, with perhaps a few million dead in the USA, which would be horrible. They would then cease to exist in a flash of nuclear fire so big that the very Sun itself would blink. They know this, even the really deluded ones. Russia had some pretty whacko leaders back in the day, and they had a really big arsenal and all the ICBMs you could shake a stick at and they never launched. Its called MAD, mutually assured destruction.
GWB: He has done a good job of screwing up every portfolio he's handled. Ignored the warnings of his intelligence community in the lead up to 9/11 (including Richard Clarke and the memos warning that terrorists planned to hijack planes). He did react to 9/11 by assuming his pet enemy and former ally Saddam Hussein was responsible when everyone else told him they were not. He did squander the goodwill of the entire world after 9/11 and, incredibly, turned it into the greatest amount of anti-American hostility in living memory. He did cut back government spending in many needed areas including the New Orleans levee system, allowing a predictable and predicted event to almost wipe out the city, killing hundreds at least. He did continue to repeat his mantra of "everything's going swell, stay the course" while the rest of the country actually watched as NOLA descended into third world chaos. He gave the entire budget surplus to the rich and then gave them even more in order to reward them for buying him the White House and ran up the largest deficit in world history while doing it (this means you and your family have had your future mortgaged to pay for GWB's payback to his wealthy backers). He let Osama bin Laden evade US capture and continue to thumb his nose at America every month.
Now the country is broke, divided, filled with fear, its military is stretched to the limit, its credibility is torn to shreds, its respect from the international community is at its lowest ebb, its soldiers are dying for a cause no one can define with no target for victory.
Hmm? Who is the biggest threat to the USA? The "axis of evil", a trite cliche supposedly coined by a Canadian speech writer named David Frum (who was fired when his wife started bragging about him having written the line, and who is still dining out on that story to this day), or the man who paid Frum to write it and actually used it.
If only the pilot of that jet had missed the deck of that aircraft carrier way back when Bush strutted out and declared major fighting was over, wearing a uniform he never earned, acting as though he had actually done the fighting himself. It would have been a tragic loss of a good pilot, but think of all the Americans who would be alive today if GWB had been dunked in the ocean that day. Then it would only be Cheney that would have had to be impeached.
Now there's hardly enough time to get rid of all the Republican deadweight that is in line for the Oval Office once Georgie boy is spanked and sent to his room.
God Bless America. You really need it now.
Clark,
You need to be more specific. Your previous posts specificaly indicate a government conspiracy. i.e., Norad, fighter pilots being diverted, ect. Please state whether you believe the government was behind 9/11 or not.
Iran? maybe a few thousand?
N. Korea? Maybe a few Hundred?
Irag? The government can't even secure its capital- a few thousand.
GW- Hundreds of thousands!
Ding Ding Ding
we have a winner!
I'd rather have my dog for president....at least I know he's loyal, faithful, and has my best interests at heart.
Ron, for once we agree on something. :D
