How is this for a comment on one of my articles. I thought I would help him advertise.
I just joined Gather.com today and I must say I'm disappointed by this mutual pat-on-the-back society. Writers who can't write aren't writers. Period. Me? I have a 422,000 novel and an illustrated children's book I'm trying to sell. I may get an agent next week, or go the POD route on both if I have to. But please, don't complain you're a writer with A) no ideas, B) no vocabulary. That's practically the entire craft, chum. See my article on this subject here: http://www.absolutewrite.com/freelance_writing/writers_spew.htm

What is a 422,000 novel?
Yes, Selene. I don't know why he did not just write an article. Maybe this one will get him a little advertisement.
I don't wish him any harm. It was not a nice comment though, Amy.
I appreciate your reading this, Sheila.
Oh, and you are above the nonsense Sandy? I have witnessed you participating in plenty of nonsense. Why are there rules for everyone except for you and your self declared "serious writer" buddies?
Comments like the one left in my article are helping to cause bad feelings on Gather. It is not just one sided. I understand that some people have attacked you. That is wrong. There are people on both sides who do not help by making comments like the one posted. Insults will not help anyone. I know you have made very little public about what was said about you. The only way I knew is I ran across an article by you, but it must have been pretty bad. This should show you that insulting comments do not help and that they came from both side. I guess this comment I'm making now is not good writing. Hopefully I will get better.
For the simple pleasure of driving home a point, I may be getting a personal banker next week, because I may be hitting the powerball tomorrow night....DUH!!
William, ignore it, you're better than that! :)
Firstly, "anothre" is spelled "another", Ms Perfect.
To get credit for another article huh? I did not hear this diatribe in:
http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976796917 (BTW, this wonderful article generated 349 comments!)
to which you posted "stupidity" 56 times.
Practice what you preach Sandy.
Mogg, I am still trying to figure out what a 422,000 novel is as well. I agree I think it is spam.
William, I understand where you are coming from but the best thing to do is ignore comments such as this and go on with life. I wish you the best of luck.
Time Heals, I appreciate you comment very much. I did publish the comment without thinking and if what he was looking for was attention I did him an injustice. It seemed to me that he was insulting everyone who had commented on the article and the comments were encouraging and helpful and from people who I respect.
(p.s. My minky bit was an attempt to mimic the pomposity of Inspector Cleuseau)
That is probably what he wanted, Deanna.
Buckle up. You are usually the most upbeat person I know in Gather, you are always helpful and have a supporting comment for everyone.....and I for one appreciate you very much
I understand Sandy's point, however. I think the person who made the comment is best ignored if you find him abrasive. I know I got the impression he's rather full of himself as well and would probably have ignored him or made a comment back to him.
And as Sonia said, I don't think you meant any harm with this article. I don't get from you that you're a malicious moron. You seem like a thoughtful person who does appreciate honest comments and criticisms if it's not given in a way that makes you feel like the person is bragging on himself and putting you down in the process. No one likes that, I don't care what they say about having a thick skin.
Carry on and know there are those of us out there who do appreciate your efforts. :-)
Your commentor appears to be one of those "serious writers" who think that gather should be a vehicle for their work and that the rest of us should stand back and worship them. As I've stated before, this community is big enough for all of us. We have a right to enjoy or ignore their work and they can do the same with ours.
Sandra, you have a way of getting to the point. Thanks.
William don't take this guys comments to heart he obviously thinks too much of himself. You do just fine.
You have more sense than some of us, Seraphim. You know your sentence is pointless.
