It's a [medical] fact that physical activity stimulates the brain. I know that when I'm not active that my thought process slows down. Taking a walk certainly does "clear the mind."
I like this one. If one wants to hear that quiet voice from within, this must be done, not to mention the physical healing qualities that come from slowing down and breathing deeply. (Ah, heck..........I have liked everyone you've posted. Still, that doesn't detract from the truth of "I like this one." LOL)
sometimes my mind gets ahead of me with worry and concerns I think the future may bring.....if I slow down...my mind may be able to wait on those things until I must think of them...if they come
Those who have arthritis or other physical limitations can still keep their minds sharp by reading, writing, playing cards and games. I'm not sure about this one. I think much faster than I type and faster than I move, too. hmmmm
Happy Triple points! I am visiting your content. So sorry for the generic post but this way I get to see more peoples content and help you get those points
Sorry to come late to this one. We've had amazing storms and even a tornado or two. Mostly, we've had no internet. So I'll be praying this comment holds..
I don't know John. I think you have to be still at times to hear the mind. Sort through it. Sometimes, people throw themselves into anything active to distract their thoughts and so stay on the surface of things. They don't want to delve, sift, and solve. Whether it's a walk, doing chores, or whatever, you need to let your mind roam, to digest things, make sense of things, and be open to new things. The wonder of new things, new thoughts.
However, you can close your mind. If you do that, are you really living? Or existing?
When your mind stops, is it "like" instant or does it take a few years? Some times I think mine hit a tree and then I come up with somthing later on. Oooops! Where did I put my glasses? I used to be able to see just fine.
Also, I hope the body slowing down doesn't stop the mind because I have a stress fracture that is healing slowly even as I think the relaxation and ease is making my mind sharper :)
I must have a contrarian mind and body (how the heck is contrarian spelled?)
It goes to show how body and mind are interconnected. Once you slack off on one part of yourself the other parts tend to slow down as well. First the body, then the mind, and eventually the soul. Another great thought John. Keep them coming.
Slowing of the body and breathing deeply slows the mind of the frentic thinking that this modren, Westren culture is so apt at doing. Calm, peaceful thoughts, everyone! (:O)
I know when I had a stroke they were adamant about my getting up and moving around to strengthen my right side but I was so petrified that I would fall that I almost made myself fall to complete the level of expectation. But when I got some more confidence and strength began to return, I wanted to do more and more. I had to wait 6 months to be able to drive myself and go to a job but I wanted to do anything other than have the time to sit and think about how much my life had changed in just a week of my life. I had surgery, got rid of the back-crippling injury, was walking around for the first time in months and then the mini-stroke took it all away again in only two days - six months later I was walking again and working but I am slower and more cautious and less likely to take a chance I would not even have considered dangerous before that.

The healing qualities is another good aspect.
I'm not sure about this one. I think much faster than I type and faster than I move, too. hmmmm
Of course you are right, and I see how that occurred to you.
And there's more to this one as well.
You can certainly interpret it that way, Shirley.
Thanks.
Well, Jan. Fortunately the brain oven is all warmed up for you. :)
Remember, there isn't a right answer.
I totally agree Mary Ann and I'd be interested in how you connected that thought with this Byte.
Take a look at the other one tomorrow and see if it connects.
They don't always connect with where a person is at the moment.
Though your second sentence seems understanding to me.
And good morning to you.
Have a great day all.
This is what I call YOGA!!
However, you can close your mind. If you do that, are you really living? Or existing?
Rest easy
My doctor still has me under restrictions -- "No exercise!" He says, "The body is still healing."
My sister pulls out her copy of "Grey's Anatomy" and starts talking points from it. But what about endorphins?
THEY.......ARE......ANNOYING!!!!
But, I'm with you, John --->alllll the way!
I must have a contrarian mind and body (how the heck is contrarian spelled?)
Another great thought John. Keep them coming.
My crack wireless hotel service has been on the blink. I'm piggybacking on some stranger's system at the moment — unless I get kicked off.
"Frentic thinking " is a very apt term for this.
It is definitely a yoga concept.
Hope you're in the basement.
Exercise is good healing for the body.
The "ego-mind " could use an off switch occasionally.
Not exercising won't hurt your ability to think when you need it.
We're discussing "over-think."
Ponder that! :)
I'll wait for you.
However, I find that I don't think as clearly when I watch women exercise.
Using the phrase I coined above, it's about over-thinking.
If it was easy we wouldn't be talking about it.
Thanks.
