I have just read a riveting story by Aoiri Obaigbo entitled "When the Truth Came..." . The story was riveting and extremely well-written. It touched the core of my soul.
It made me think and then weep for the forgotten ones, those behind prison walls of poverty, those trapped in abusive marriages; those discriminated against for some physical aspect of which they have no control.
It made me think long and hard about the on-going sexual abuse that many little girls and boys all over the world are forced to endure. I deliberated on the plight of the women whose hearts have become hardened to love as they sell themselves to earn a living.
I lament over those who as my friend Terry Collett wrote in His poem "Dark Hours Have Tamed her Heart" apply the "thin sad goddess" to their veins of life looking life when all it can bring is death and despair. I weep for these -- the bruised, the battered, the mocked, the belittled, the oppressed, the hated, the persecuted, the bullied.
Insisting upon being considered, these all have forced themselves into the light of my consciousness. As I consider the plight of those who have done no apparent evil to bring such evil upon themselves; I am shamed into believing that I tend to take my more favorable circumstances for granted.
My tears continue to flow .... are there any who weep with me? Are there any with answers? How do we rest in sound sleep and enjoy the modern conveniences afforded us when there are so many who cry out from the pain that life often inflicts?

Life, for whatever reason, has dealt many a most heavy hand.
I'm reminded of your "Vow to be thy brother's keeper" six word story. We never know when that man (that woman) who has been so burdened with life's grief, will come our way. We never know when that person will be us! Then, this vow can take effect! Anyone and Everyone is our neighbor, so we have the privilege of putting these words into action. Within the right context, we will be able to help them. Thank you for bringing this to the attention of many. All of us have been dealt, at one time or another, a blow or blows that have been difficult and many times ONGOING! But somewhere down the line, there has to be a change for the better for them when people learn how to help. Great contribution, my dear friend.
I have discovered that in the midst of much evil, God really is there and good will eventually prevail. This is the hope that I cling to.
od for people like you on this earth!
I applaud you my dear! Thanks for sharing the pain of humanity with me and others!
Wow...good post. I had to learn a long time ago that one cannot save the world all at once, only one piece at a time, one touch at a time, one smile, one hug....I hurt inside at times when I see children that are hurting...inside. I can almost feel their pain. I do believe the worst kind of abuse is the kind we cannot see, the abuse from words of hate and misguided anger.
jeni, I agree wholeheartedly!
