This is dedicated to my sister, Jeannie, who inspired this article about my experience of writing on Gather.com
I wrote a poem /viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976787035
and wanted to thank the friends who commented on it. I noticed that the comment my sister had written was missing. We talked on the phone tonight and she explained why it was gone. Sweet sister, Jeannie, deleted her poem/comment on this article because she thought that it might appear as if she was trying to over-shadow my work with hers. I told her that I frequently comment on an excellent article or image with a poem or rhyme of my own.
I explained to her that, in my view, when someone's article, poem or image inspires me to write another, it is my tribute to the original author rather than a case of "showing off". I cannot count how many times I have read something here on Gather that has excited me enough to write something more than a mere comment. To me, this is one of the best things about Gather.com.
It is the reason that I keep coming back and signing on whenever possible. The words and images of my fellow gather members send sparks to my brain. I am stimulated by all my muses and more motivated than I have ever been in my life to write and to create.

I agree with you.
A comment can be in any form that one is moved to use.
Jeannie is jazzed on Gather. Check out her space on myspace. You can hear her sing!
You teach me so much. Thank you...
I love you...
ps... have you had your 'mamo' today?... I did.
Not many so far submitting their art.
Now I can leave my current comfort zone to go see 'Bonnie Raitt'...
I'm late
I know she will be great
I need an uplift for heavens sake
Thank you for the image...
I've got to fly.
My name is Jeannie Sousa.
(this is where everyone says, "Welcome Jeannie"
Today I was able to not have a drink of "gather" for a total of 6 hours. (One of the hours was due to the site being worked on)
Tonight I shall pray to my higher power to help me spend some time with my husband and clean up the 5 days of dishes loaded in the sink.
Tomorrow if I should wake to some interesting articles,
I will try and just read, ummmmmmm... 5 at the most.
I will try and only post 2 new images.
I will try and only add 1 new group.
I will except the things I can not change
and edit only when needed.
Thank you for allowing me to share.
You just gave one of the best definitions of an author-author relationship (between two sisters makes it even more intimate, but still your points made are universal for the evolving community of a Web 2.0 blog) that is miraculously replacing the conventional author--critic transaction in the sim worlds.
I have copied this to mull over for my pre-Simulationist study group, because you have caught the essential of what is good about Gather, and the human race for that matter as we move toward total immersion in the simulated realities.
