What to do when you get to the bottom of the bottle?
One of the frugal things we do in our family is use up the very last drop of everything, especially condiments. How do you do that? Check out this video:

1. For ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauces, other sauces: when they get down to the lowest levels, I put a little water in them and shake the bottle. Then I use the remainder as a seasoning in something I am cooking, such as chili, casseroles, etc.
2. For things like honey, maple syrup and its equivalents: If it contains sugar, you can microwave the bottle just a few seconds (NOT much!) to soften the goo. It will pour out easier when warm.
3. For peanut butter, mayonnaise, and other spreads: I use a rubber spatula. You can get small narrow ones that work well in these containers.
4. In the video above, they cut the end off the toothpaste tube to get that last bit of toothpaste out. Good idea. This would work with other tube items such as hand creams in tubes, and other lotions in tubes. Using Q-tips will help get more out as well.
Do you have some frugal methods for using the last bit of something out of the containers? Please share!

I'll have to ask my wife for ones she does.

1. Place a small tub into the kitchen sink with enough water to rinse the veggies. When you're finished, use the water in your house plants or in the garden rather than dumping it down the drain.
2. Use that small tub method for pre-rinsing items that will go into the dishwasher, too.
3. Leftover water in the dog or cat bowl can be poured into your houseplants, too.
Also, I get my bathroom soap in the foam despenser bottles because it is a lot cheaper to put a drop of shampoo with some water in there for a refill.
Once my sister gave me some creamy hair softener stuff. I wasn't all that fond of it in the first place, but when the bottle started to empty I refilled it with water and squirted it on in the shower. It worked a lot better that way. Now I go and get the hair creams and put a little bit in that same bottle. I fill the rest of the way with water and it works better, and saves me money!
