Do you think freezing will also work for cilantro?

good advice.

I am infamous in my family for adding parsley to EVERY THING I cook. When I made the big move; got married and moved to another state, my sister had placed a new bottle of parsley between the car seats. That evening, my honeymoon, I gripped my bag of goodies to my chest heading for the bathroom... I opened the bubble bath and placed a goodly amount into the heart shaped tub. I locked the door and undressed. I took out my white, net creation designed to guarantee my husband's total life time devotion to me. Since you weren't there, I'll tell you we had just gotten married and swore our vows with 250 ppl., but my money was on the new nightie. I removed it from it's tissue wrap and imagine my suprize when a small jewlery box fell to the floor! My loving sis had a silver smith create a replica of a small pinch of round leaf parsley. My sis has passed on now but, I still wear the 18 inch necklace - when I enclose my hand around the parsley - I can still feel the warmth of my baby sister's love. That was 23 years ago and I am complemented almost everytime I wear this most unusual necklace. My sis is there for me. Barbara T. I never thought about freezing parsley. Cood idea. I've tried drying oregano the way you describe, and it works fabulously. On a side note, I was skipping through television channels the other day and on a food show the chef chops up his leftover fresh herbs, and I presume now freezes them, and then sprinkles them over this dishes as a flavorful garnish. Just one idea for the group.

Sorry Laura, I'm not sure how cilantro would take to either freezing or drying. I need to get one of those plans though, as cilantro is the perfect addition to summer tomato salsas made fresh from the vine.

Good idea, I wouldn't have thought it would stay green. I tried with basil and it turned brown. Don't know about cilantro.

Great tip! I have used the moist paper towel wrap but didn't realize I could FREEZE it without having it wilt! Thanks!

I like to chop a nice mixture of parsley and celery leaves and then freeze it ...... it is very handy to break off a bit and reseal the bag .... and adds a wonderful, fresh taste to my home-made winter soups along with the tomatoes that were put up from the garden, as well ............. mmmmmmm ... I can almost smell it .... yummy
