I stated in previous articles that most recipes can be changed to make more recipes by changing ingredients. Nuts should have been listed in the article on additives.
Most people would probably be surprised at the number of recipes to which nuts can be added. They can enhance the flavor or add crunchiness or both to food.
Most people use nuts in candies, cookies and cakes, but not in much more. When preparing any food, it will only take a few seconds to think "What would nuts do to this recipe?"
I like nuts in baked foods, rice dishes, and in most salads. They can be added to unlimited recipes. Chopped nuts add crunch and flavor to ice cream. What vegetables would taste good with nuts in them? What about nuts with meats or fish?
What kind of nuts? When asked about the type of wine to serve with a particular meal, a famous chef once said "What kind of wine do you like?" The same can hold true with nuts. A few of the most common ones are pecans, almonds, peanuts, and walnuts. If you like another kind, try them.

My wife is nuts for nuts. Currently, she's been whipping up pecan goodies. M-m-m-m-m-m Good !
Do you kids and grandkids really dislike all nuts? I've found that my grandkids resisted eating nuts and fruits because they weren't used to them. Once they found out that was all they were going to get at Grandma's house (I've banned junk food), they suddenly developed a taste for them - now they can't get enough of them!

You did a smart thing, Donna.
Thanks for the comment, Linda.
BTW if you are watching your carbohydrates this is a great substitute for regular breadings!
I like to add nuts and raisins to meatloaf.
