Why ask for help if you don't want it? *Rant*

I received a message from someone stating that they were having problems and were requesting feedback on how to correct the problems.  (I'm trying to be as vague as possible so as not to name names.)  I sent this person a long message providing my suggestions and even offered to help fix some of the problems.  This was probably 3-4 days ago.  The person didn't even bother to reply to my message.  Not even a "thank you for your suggestions" or a "thanks, but I don't need your help."  Nothing.

Why would someone post, asking for help, when they don't really want it?  I just don't get it.  Telling me "thanks but no thanks" would be better than just ignoring me.

Oh well.  Serves me right for trying to be nice.

I agree some people only care about themselves...very sad!

I know I'm very appreciative when anyone helps me and I return the favor by helping them out when in need.

was it me? I dont really think so but my mind is spinning on how to make some money and either repair my van or buy something different so I'm all over the place and not keeping up anywhere.

perhaps they got the problem solved and forgot they even asked? I'm not trying to defned the culprit, but sometimes people forget the question they asked before they get an answer

Thank you's are becoming rarer and rarer these days ... but in all fairness, maybe this person hasn't logged back in since you sent the info, or haven't been able to dig through all the spam and "please read me's" in their Gathermail ... then again, maybe they are part of the first bunch and will never reply.

i sent 3 emails the other day that just vanished, i know i sent them so maybe they did respond and you just didnt get it. gather mail is being a real _itch since the upgrade

One never knows what is going on in others lives. They may not be up to checking their email or maybe they cant get into their email. Just a thought.

I hope it is not that they are just being cruel.

It could be that they just can't get into their mail or something. I know there are several members that are still having mail problems and even I am still having problems getting my mailbox to open even though my dash says there are over 500 sitting there.

Something may have come up, or maybe the mail got lost in the inbox! I get hundreds of emails a day from Gather. Maybe it just got misplaced in hers/his.

there's always a possibility the email didn't go through or the person hasn't been able to get back online. But, aside from something like that, it is really rude.

There are all sorts of reasons. Maybe they weren't online much or at all after the posting. Maybe they are like my acquaintance who just likes to ask about it over and over. She never listens to the advice so it's a waste of breath. Maybe you weren't the only one with the same advice. Whatever the reason, yours are the only action you can control.
