If you like to make some extra bucks, here is a great program I have been participating for a few years. It's called the Shoppers Hotline.
There is no cost to join, of course. They send you a scanner and the instructions. It takes 30 seconds to hook everything up. Then, every time when you made a purchase (in store or online), you use the scanner to scan the items that have a UPC bar code on them. You get 40 points every week (if you scan at least once during the week). You get an extra 15 points per week if you also scan your prescription drugs (or just scan "No prescription drugs this week"). They also have occasional surveys for extra points throughout the year. Redeem 625 points for a $10 debit card, or accumulate 2,500 points and redeem for a $50 debit card.
It is not quick money, but it is free money. They happen to be recruiting new members right now, but they require a 9-digit panel ID from existing members, otherwise they will not accept the new member (so they said). If you are interested, you can use my ID "047 199 182". Just call 1-877-999-2949, ask for Operator 10, and give them my ID.
If you have more questions, please feel free to ask me. I have gotten about $170 from them, so they are legit. Have fun!

I transmit over the Internet. Does Shoppers Hotline require the use of a telephone to transmit, or do they also have a way to use the Internet?
Or, would it be 'cheating' to use two such companies at the same time?
So far, I've accumulated 50,990 points with homescan. Perhaps I might look into what the points may be used for. A debit card would be nice.

i've already joined but never got the scanner or anything, still waiting.
thanks for sharing that with us, I had never heard of them before.
