Why I Look Forward to the Southwestern Monsoon

This is actually my first pre-paid article on Associated Content:

Every summer around the end of June into July, August and September comes what is termed "monsoonal moisture" into the southwest. While some people in other parts of the world would hardly compare the heavy rains of their monsoons to the occasional downpours in the desert, the importance of these weather phenomena are almost equal. Rain in the summer is very important to the region and a some of these deserts. While many people in the region complain about the high humidity these airflows bring in, I look forward to them even if they're uncomfortable.

Thanks! I plan to write some more, but I don't know, it's a lot of work. I used to do that type of writing when I was in school, but I haven't done it for a while.

Thanks for looking. I had another one that I submitted with what I thought was better content, but it got rejected. I may do a little more work on it and resubmit it. That's a good thing, though, as it shows that they just don't approve anything for pre-payments.

Darlene, thanks for the article. We are in the midst of our Indian monsoon, which is very severe in terms of the quantum of rainfall. during the active phase we hardly see the sun.

I enjoyed that, Darlene! Although we don't have a "monsoon" season here, we've experienced such horrendous droughts here in Texas in the past, I also welcome the rain when it comes in the spring and sometimes continues into the early part of summer, as it has this year. Even if I'm not "in the mood" for a rainy day, I remind myself of how awful the droughts were and am thankful for the blessing of a good rain storm!

Yeah, it's the same here, too. We barely get any rain out of them anymore, even in the mountains. There was one flash flood one year where I was visiting, but that was it. I live closer to the coast, but far enough inland to get a few of these showers. I could hear the thunder, but hardly ever got any rain.

I look forward to the monsoon season each summer. I love to watch the cloud buildups and sometimes we get a welcome cool down whne the storms blow in. Drive in dust storms is not fun, but watching them roll in is interesting.

Yeah, seeing those dust storms in the distance is interesting, but I definitely don't like driving in them, either. They have quite a few just east of Coachella Valley.

A lot of people hate the humidity, too. That's one of the drawbacks, it makes if feel hotter than it already is. The last couple of days have been humid because of the tropical moisture. But, we're getting a lot of pretty clouds. :)

I've been out there during Monsoon season. It's interesting how it will rain like heck one minute, clear up the next, and then go back to downpouring in the blink of an eye.

Thanks for commenting. Yeah, it will rain in one spot and you can see it from far away, too. But, the rest of the area would be dry.
