Arrgh! What happened to my article?

I just spent an hour typing out and writing an article and even posted links and the like.  Then, after I chose all the groups that I wanted it published to and submitted it, the screen when blank and it said "done" at the bottom.  I tried re-sending it, but it disappeared.  It doesn't show up in the list of articles that I've published.  So, now, I am going to have to do it all over again.  I don't feel like doing it right now after this.  Is this something that has been happening a lot lately?

i had the same thing on my video!
That used to happen to me often. You could try to write the article in a word processing program off-line (I use Word) then copy and past it to Gather. That has saved me hours of frustration.
Oops, I meant 'paste.'

I hate to when it does this. Sometimes I copy and paste from words, but most often, I just make sure to constantly hit save.

I sometimes copy and paste the body of the article as a precaution but I have yet to run into this problem.

Gorgeous Gabby's suggestion is a good one. I'm going to do that with my next photo essay. I'm pretty sure you still have to upload the photos within the essay to Gather, but at least you'll have all the text in Word saved on your local hard drive, should it be lost on Gather.

Nancy, nope, you can put the pictures in the Word article then download the whole thing into Gather.

Yes, ever since the last upgrade none of my articles post the first time. So, I remember to copy them before posting. That way I can paste it and post again. It is frustrating to say the least.

Sometimes you can click the 'back' button on your browser and it will display your article again. Then copy the text and save the article as a 'draft'. This will at least ensure that your hard work isn't in vain.

I always recommend that you write your articles outside of Gather in Microsoft Word or other word processing program....then paste it into the Gather article editor when you're ready to publish.

Also, click 'Save as Draft' often while editing.

I used to put my articles on Word so that I could spell check it easier, but it just takes absolutely forever to open Word up because I use Open Office. This one was just something I decided to write straight. It's happened once before and I started copying my text before I posted. I didn't realize my article was going to be so long to begin with. At least I bookmarked my references to use later. I'll probably put it up again when I feel like writing something again.

I save as a draft several times while writing one in case it disappears. I've been bumped out of here so many times as well causing the problem. I also now copy it before pushing/clicking any buttons in here.... sigh. Life shouldn't be so hard, LOL.

I think I'm going to start doing that also, especially since I've also started writing for AC. I just don't write enough articles right now. I thought I would just knock one out yesterday and I didn't realize how much I was writing or researching.
