Hillary Clinton to run as an independant?

I hadn't heard that but I don't follow that and it wouldn't surprise me if she did. :P

I think it is a great idea! She would pretty much hand the election over to McCain if she did that.

That's the only possible hope that Johnny McLame would ever have, for sure.

Clinton would be done FOREVER if she did that. I've heard it as well. 20% of her supporters indicate they would vote for McInsane without further developments.

If she does run as an independent, she has no political future, certainly not with the Democrats. She doesn't know when to take a hint and quit!

The major reason she won't is that she's already deeply in debt. Additionally, the deadline for independent candidate filing has passed in most states.

I can't imagine her wanting to do that. It splits the Democratic party and gives John McCain an easier road to election. History shows that it helps the candidate of the unified party. Theodore Roosevelt siphoned votes away from Taft in 1912 (actually, it was the other way around as TR finished second and Taft was third), giving the election to Woodrow Wilson. In 1968, George Wallace won 13 percent of the popular vote (and 46 electoral votes), while Richard Nixon and Hubert Humphrey were in a virtual dead heat in the popular vote. But Nixon had 301 electoral votes to Humphrey's 191. Did Wallace make a difference in some of the states Nixon won? Perhaps.

It's just not a smart move for the Democrats in general and Clinton in particular.

Yeah, I've heard on MSNBC that she's supposed to suspend her campaign on Friday.

I think Hillary should run ... to Canada, England, or Australia. I think the U.S. has had enough of Hil and Bill.

Its an idea,as is the large write in campaign,but I doubt it.Anyways anything is better than Obama.

If Obama could get Colin Powell, that could be interesting, couldn't it?

I've heard rumors of this also. I wouldn't put it past her. She knows she'd never win, but I think this is the strategy ...

She runs as 3rd party, pretty much guaranteeing a McCain victory in November.

She figures that, after 12 years of republicans, that 2012 bodes well for democrats .(Worked for hubby, right?)

She can then make a case that Obama couldn't beat McCain in 2008, so she's the better choice for 2012.

This is the Clinton mode of operations. They're not concerned about what's good for the country, their primary concern is about what's good for the Clintons.

Somehow, I doubt 'a hundred, a thousand, a million years of war' is better than Obama.
