When is Summer Truly Over?

I have always enjoyed the summer months. That is of course with the exception of the humid days that tend to bog you down. The sun rejuvinates me with it's warming rays. My spirits are lifted higher when I turn my face to the sun.

Days spent outdoors near the water or just sitting in your favorite lounge chair beneath a shady tree is pure heaven. The fresh smell of the air after a summer rain is delightful.

For me summer ends when the sandals, shorts and tank tops find their way to the back of the closets. Long-sleeved shirts, slacks, and warm shoes are needed to keep yourself warm.

The sun is still there. Although it's rays are not as warming as they were, it still rejuvinates me to turn my face to the sun.

Can't tell it here. Temps have been in the triple digits. We're in a drought, which is very very unusual for Georgia.

There is an endless summer where the chill of the fall is merely a comma providing a pause and the winter is summer in preparation, subtly underground brimming with the reassurance of perennials.

Summers seem to last a while here. Usually by the end of September we are not having humid weather. I wish it would end sooner so I can go for more walks and enjoy the cool breezes and watch the birds and do more outside.

I agree totally, Sarina. Summer is over when you have to wear jeans, a flannel shirt, and real shoes instead of flip flops. One thing about living in SC is that winter isn't really all that much different from summer. It's slightly cooler but there's no snow or ice or anything. We rarely ever wear jackets and definitely not coats here. The only thing that is really depressing about winter here though is that the grass all dies and there is not any green left. It's all just brown and dead looking.

I had to put on a sweater last week before heading off to work! It was really chilly in the morning.

Summer is over when the kids go back to school! Though I'm sure things will be much less "hyper" around here, we won't be going outside as much, or doing the fun things that kids do during the summer! However, I think I am going to do my best to enjoy the little bit of warm weather we're going to have in September. I love fall!
